About this deal

Their background, style, and influences often shine through in their writing, making each book a unique experience. I enjoyed the complexity of Cassidy's character and the tremendous growth she's made throughout the series. I love when an author gives us character development and, in this case, both characters were change for the better by being with each other.

This was 2 books, for a total of 650 pages, and it could have (should have) been edited down to half that. But he’s so gentle with Cassidy there are some areas where you can see when Cassidy grabs onto some of max ‘s darkness. Even at almost half way through, Im still throughly confused about who is even involved in the mysterious, big bad “stop asking questions, Cassidy” backstory/mystery.

Only Nicci Harris could have me rolling in tears from laughter one minute and then pulling my hair out the next. Having gone through the myriad of emotions at the complexity of "Facing Us", I wasn't sure how Nicci Harris would top that but, I was pleasantly surprised to note how different, yet alike the two books were. Here, you'll discover not just the publication year, which is essential for understanding the context and evolution of the series, but also a succinct summary that teases the story without spoiling any surprises. There was a bit of involvement of other side characters here and there, which added to the tension of the world.

But the more he sees (or even thinks about) Cassidy with anyone else, the more Max starts re-evaluating his priorities. I really struggled with Nicci's first book, but I could tell the basis was there for awesome storytelling and she 👋 did 👋 not 👋 disappoint 👋! I laughed a lot with these characters especially interactions with Cassidy and Toni (I love him) I got emotional, it’s the first book I’ve cried at for a while 😢 the violence is amazing and the spice is 🥵 I love how there is a story line with the spice added in. You can relate to how Cassidy behaves after this, because really, how does one react after something like that? They came back stronger after the events of the first part but then nothing is ever easy in the district and things come crashing down. You were forced into a life that bred toxic masculinity and crushed weakness, but you managed to hold on to your integrity.

This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use. It's the perfect spot for readers to get a glimpse of what lies within the pages, helping them decide which book to dive into next. The first 25-30% drags a bit, so I could see why I stopped reading the 1st time, but this time I kept going. I have previously read this book when it released as an e-book and I loved having it come to life again through this audiobook. My body trembles, and I am a silly little girl because I'd thought love would be warmth in my chest and heart, and peace and contentment in my soul.Reading the Kids of the District series feels like gorging on a deliciously scrumptious cake, despite knowing it's gonna be bad and hurt you irrevocably in the end, you just cannot help yourself from devouring it. What can I say about Max… he might be OTT and insensitive at times, but I loved how Cassidy broke through his defenses and touched him. For those that read Facing Us first, will appreciate the connection to this book and the backstory you got from that. I wish the book had a little different ending, since there was so much missed, but otherwise it was an absolutely incredible story.

Her depiction of the mafia and the commitments and struggles of those "in" the lifestyle are raw and honest. Cassidy’s brother Konnor comes back into town with his new girlfriend blesk, but Konnor wants answers, he wants to know who his father is? Cassidy goes on a double date as a favour to her best friend Toni, she ends up hitting it off with the guy and they start making out. Max supposed to be a bad mafia boy kind of type but acts like every damn playful college quarterback type.

Max the brooding gentle giant but only to Cassidy and the flirty silly Cassidy who is such a sweetheart.
