About this deal

Chop the chocolate very finely. I prefer to chop it roughly and then process it shortly in the food processor; it saves time, and the finer the chocolate is, the faster it will melt. The salty pretzels are great addition to the fudge. Not only do you get that sweet-salty combo, pretzels are a great pairing with beer. I like the way each piece has its own pretzel, but you could crush them up and mix them in or use crushed up pretzels on top if you didn’t have enough whole pretzels. Either way, it will be delicious.

This caramel colored frosting is an interesting flavor. Interesting in a good way! It’s mostly espresso flavored, though there are lingering notes of maple too. Not sure how it tastes like maple, but I suspect it’s the combination of reduced Guinness, vanilla, and confectioners’ sugar. Whatever the reason, it’s SO GOOD because it’s SO DIFFERENT. When you hear the word “Guinness”, what comes to your mind first? We’re going to guess it’s not a bevy of Guinness-flavoured treats but a pint glass filled with dark Irish stout—and with good reason to— Guinness is one of the world’s most successful beers. It is brewed in almost 50 countries and available to drink in over 120. When you add ‘random’ ingredients to a sponge, it can create the most wonderful texture. Mayonnaise cake works as mayonnaise is essentially just eggs and oil, so ingredients you often find in a cake anyway! Courgette can bring a level of moisture… Guinness brings all of it. It creates a delicious sponge that I adore. Beer fudge is a unique and easy fudge to make and perfect for the beer lover in your life. I make this decadent Dark Chocolate Guinness Fudge several times a year and it’s always a hit! Then spread the mixture evenly onto a parchment paper lined 8″ x 8″ pan or glass dish (make sure the paper hangs over two ends of the pan so you can use it as a handle to remove the fudge when done). Place the container in the fridge and chill until set (about 2 hours).

Optional: A sprinkle of best-quality flaky sea salt. You don’t have to sprinkle the chocolate fudge with it, it will be amazing without it, but if you do, you will know what I mean. It just brings the treat to a whole new level. We’ll use 1/2 cup of reduced Guinness in the brownie batter and the remaining 2 and 1/2 Tablespoons in the frosting.Place the finely chopped chocolate in the heatproof bowl and place this bowl on top of the saucepan, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water. Let the chocolate melt slowly on barely simmering water, often stirring with a metal spoon. Dark chocolate comes to mind first. These Guinness brownies aren’t overly sweet, so you’ll find yourself grabbing another. (If it’s not the brownies that are addicting, it’s the frosting. More on that below!) If we’re talking texture, they’re very dense and very moist. In fact, they’re the moistest brownies I’ve ever baked… because they’re the only brownies I’ve ever baked with Guinness! Unlike my chewy brownies, these Guinness brownies are not particularly chewy. They taste like fudge. A square of dark chocolate fudge. How It Works Cut the fudge into even squares. To get clean cuts, I recommend that you clean your knife in between cuts. Then go ahead and pop one in your mouth.
