About this deal

The plot treads carefully on the comprehensible side of convoluted. I think I lost the odd detail along the way, but nothing important enough that I wasn't pretty sure what was happening throughout. McNab manages to keep the intrigue going without making it feel artificial as he does so. After leaving the Army, McNab developed and maintained a specialist training course for news crews, journalists and members of non-governmental organisations working in hostile environments. He spent time in Hollywood as a technical weapons adviser and trainer on Michael Mann's film Heat. He was also the technical adviser on the 2005 crime film Dirty. [15] [ bettersourceneeded] The name and childhood of the character are allegedly inspired by one of the author’s childhood friends.

Moderately disappointed in this book, which was very surprising. I had read Andy McNab's Bravo Two Zero in the mid 90s and loved it, and as a result, perhaps I set the bar too high for this, which was McNab's first novel. This beginning seemed to have a very negative impact on his life. McNab became a high school drop-out, never having performed particularly well in school. He worked odd jobs, usually for people he knew, switching occupations often. Soon, McNab turned to a life of petty crime, performing several burglaries, and was finally arrested for one of his crimes in 1976. Reynolds, Simon (28 October 2011). It is sad when young mothers abandon their newborns, but amazing what great people they can become. First of all, he fills the kid so full of caffeine and junk food that she'd never sleep. And that's before you get to the inevitable constipation... But I guarantee that no 7 year old child on earth would be happy to be left in a strange hotel room for hours on end by a man they barely know. She doesn't whine NEARLY enough. She doesn't cry nearly enough. And don't even get me started on the final scene where she's reading the names of chemicals off bottles under the sink and then opening the child proof caps In August 2014, McNab was one of 200 public figures who were signatories to a letter to The Guardian expressing their hope that Scotland would vote to remain part of the United Kingdom in September's referendum on that issue. In Bravo Two Zero--McNab's account of his SAS team in action in Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War--he showed considerable talent for first-person narrative and description. His insights into the demands on special forces operatives were very colorful and a pleasure to read. He knows how to tell really good, tight, engaging stories, so he seems a natural for writing novels based on his military experiences. This is the first Andy McNab book that I have ever read which actually works out well because it is also the first one he has ever written. For the most part I really enjoyed it but there were a couple of points which I think need to be sorted out before the next book in the series. McNab, Andy (22 November 2008). It started out as another "high action" thriller, the kind of book I like to read at night to clear my mind after the "research-for-my-writing" I often read during the day. This story also covers live inside SAS. Yet again a nonfiction story about his own life, Seven Troop covers ten years of McNab’s military career. It talks about the bonds that were created between those who served with them as they first met up in the jungle of Malayan and the gripping tales of things that happened as they served together.
