About this deal

A feature that might let some people down is the relatively small water resistance rating. It’s rated at 30m also know as 3 ATM. This gives you basic resistance to water, but not much more. In my opinion though, this is ok as it’s not designed for much more than day to day wear. The dial on the ref. SNKE01K1 has a similar layout, but is surrounded by a stainless steel bezel with five-minute gradations. This model also uses the caliber 7S26 and costs roughly 145 USD.

I’m a fan of this simple, no nonsense dial design. It’s easy to read featuring a good amount of lume on the hands and hour markers for easier reading in dark conditions. The day and date display can also come in handy when required. The watch has a water resistance of 30M/3ATM. This is a downside of this movement as it is certainly not a lot. It can handle water splashes but should not be submerged. At the same time, it is important to consider that this watch is made as an everyday timepiece, and therefore, good water resistance is not crucial. In 2020, Seiko incorporated the 5 Sports series into the Seiko 5 collection. The collection thus comprises the Sports, Suits, Street, Specialist, and Sense series in addition to classic Seiko 5 models. While the Sports line mostly offers diving and pilot's watches, you'll find some colorful, stainless steel diving watches in the Suits line as well. The Seiko Sense and Street series are home to playful, multicolored designs. Lastly, the Specialist line features diving watches made of stainless steel, some of which have a bronze or golden exterior. The bracelet has some play and some rattle but it is comfortable to wear, and due to its relatively lightweight, occasionally, you won’t even notice it is there. The Seiko SNXS77 has a stainless steel strap with a standard fold over clasp. This is what you would expect on a watch that aims for functionality. The strap is 19mm wide which is just below your standard size. There is a wide array of automatic watches with designs inspired by diving watches in the Seiko 5 Sports collection. These include the refs. SRPD51K1, SRPD63K1, and SRPD55K2. The first two models belong to the Seiko 5 Sports family, while the latter is part of the Specialist series. All three watches are similar in terms of technology and design.

The Seiko 5 SNXS77 is a simple, clean, and elegant watch that offers great value for money. Priced at just over 100 USD, it offers exceptional value for money. It is clean, elegant, and powered by a workhorse automatic movement. All in all the Seiko SNXS77 offers exceptional value for money in my view, it’s a classic design watch so not much in the way of any fancy bells or whistles going on with the dial etc. One more thing to touch upon is the automatic movement, now I love watches with this style of movement. They automatically wind themselves using the kinetic movement of your wrist which is an interesting feature. Once again, the SNXS's water resistance is on par with every other cheap Seikos. The push & pull crown only allows for 30m of water resistance, which is ok for a few splashes here and there, but nothing more.

It’s simple, refined, and most importantly beautiful. Whenever someone asks me to recommend an affordable everyday timepiece, this is one of the first watches that come to mind. And with a price of just above 100 USD, you cannot go wrong with it. And when you look at what it offers more in detail, it’s evident that this watch offers an exceptional value which not many other watch brands can compete with. There isn’t actually a date feature on this watch so you’ll have to decide how fussed you are about having this feature. I’m quite happy skipping out on the date feature on a watch as I honestly rarely use it. I consider them more of a style piece on a watch these days.
