About this deal

Seiko’s exclusive 7S26 calibre automatic movement powers this watch, it consists of 21 jewels and it offers an accuracy of -20/+40 seconds per day. This watch has a water resistance of 30 metres, meaning it should only be exposed to light splashes of water.

The next step up would have been sapphire glass which is scratch proof rather than the scratch resistant you see in Hardlex crystal. Due to the price of sapphire glass though you only really see it on premium watches. Strap & Clasp

Each hour marker is accented by a seconds counter that steps up by five for each hour, all the way to 60 seconds. That’s a classic pilot’s watch feature, and though it makes the SNK809’s dial much busier, it fits within the overall aesthetic. Yes, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is a good watch—for the right buyer. There are definite reasons that so many people select a Seiko 5 as their first mechanical watch. Or even as their only watch. And why so many people continue to add them as inexpensive additions to a larger watch collection. So yes, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is worth buying. It makes a good everyday wearer for someone who wants a mechanical watch but who doesn’t want to spend a lot. It’s a great size for people with smaller wrists or even for a young person trying out mechanical watches. And due to its low price, the SNK809 is a good beater watch or one to start off a budding collection. The SNK809 has a mass-produced movement, but it’s Seiko’s in-house 7S26 automatic movement with 21 jewels and a 40-hour power reserve.

Before we start dissecting this bad boy, let’s get an idea of just where the Seiko 5 series came from. Seiko 5 Sports Automatic 6601-8930 – Nov 1965 – Photography by Worn & Wound Now this may not be that exclusive watch that’ll make an entire room weak in the knees whenever you stretch your hand out for that cuppa joe, but numbers don’t lie. Wikipedia’s example of what 30m water resistance offers you in ‘suitable for everyday use. Splash/rain resistant. Not suitable for showering, bathing, swimming, snorkelling, water related work and fishing.’ The thing with water resistance testing is that it’s done in a still environment with no added pressure. The case has a satin finish on the top of the case and lugs and a polished underside. This contributes to the industrial, tool-like feel of the watch. After all, it is a military-inspired watch. The satin finish also helps fight off scratches and keeps the watch looking fresh and pristine. The matte finish thus contributes to its everyday tool-like design. Are there reasons to buy the SNK809 besides price? Yes, I’d say there are. Fit and comfort: a watch size that works The other thing that makes the SNK809 worth buying is its size. While watches are slowly coming down in size, and there are more and more sub-40mm offerings available all the time, there are still not as many to be found in the 36-37mm range. For those with smaller wrists or those who prefer smaller or mid-sized watches, the SNK series fits the bill. Tidak terasa premium atau mewah, tetapi terasa kokoh dengan desain yang simple dan elegan yang bergaya militer atau military membuatnya tampil gagah, maskulin dan sederhana. The qualities that give it such a straightforward appearance are a nod to the watch’s military roots, but they’re also a great opportunity for Seiko to show off its ability to build an insanely high-quality watch and sell it for peanuts.

When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge! The last weak point of the SNK809 is the finishing details and quality control. In most cases, you’ll get a perfectly good copy. But, with huge production numbers, the low cost of the watch, and Seiko’s notorious occasional quality control oversights, you probably have a better chance of getting one with slight imperfections than you would with a more expensive watch. Conclusion: Yes, the Seiko 5 SNK809 is worth buying After a few days of wear, it becomes softer and more comfortable, but it’s worth looking at an affordable replacement. The good news is that the SNK809 looks great on a variety of straps, including rubber and leather watch straps. A rubber strap looks great too, and it’s very comfy.Night time visibility on this Seiko never really gets as much credit as it should; it’s pretty good! That’s not at all what we have here, and though I’ve passed over it on my watch searches many times, I can say now that I’d give it more than a second glance if I see it again. The SNK809 carries a military vibe overall that lands somewhere between a classic pilot’s watch and a rugged field watch, though the dial markings tilt further in the pilot direction. Price and availability are definitely attractive features of the Seiko 5 SNK809. In fact, with so many relatively affordable mechanical watches available these days from both microbrands and longer-established brands, price and availability are probably THE primary strengths of the Seiko 5 SNK line.
