About this deal

The ending did bring tears to my eyes. Oh my gosh, yes it did. It was just the best ending to this short series. The enchanting illustrated sequel to the #1 New York Times bestselling THE WILD ROBOT, by award-winning author-illustrator Peter Brown Eventually, the sketches were replaced with the final illustrations, and we got an even better idea of how the finished book would look Using one of Storyboard That’s board game templates, create a game based on the book for your classmates to play!

And like I said before, this be categorized as middle-grade. Bah! Don’t let that stop ye! I don’t put age limits on things. Everyone should read about Roz the robot. However, Roz had an earlier life (first book), and the life she had there - which I will not go into - is still part of her big robotic heart. (Yep, Roz has feelings, developed from the 'instincts' with which she was programmed.) She's existing in a continual tug-of-war between the farm, farmer and his children AND her earlier life elsewhere. The following version of this book was used to create this lesson plan: Brown, Peter. The Wild Robot Escapes. Little, Brown and Company. 2018. Hardcover. Your books about the Wild Robot are inspiring and entertaining. Now I see you are writing the Wild Robot Protects. I’m wholly invested in this extraordinary series! My favourite character was Brightbill and the things he said as I can just imagine Brightbill doing that. Food scientists are already creating meat, eggs and dairy in laboratories, without any animals at all. And some scientists predict all animal-based foods will be artificial in the future. But I’m not so sure. In the future, I don’t think there will be fewer kinds of food, I think there will be all kinds of food: real eggs and artificial eggs, vegetables grown in gardens and in greenhouses and in hydroponic facilities, milk from cows and sheep and goats and laboratories, and food produced with technology that hasn’t been invented yet. I think there will be infinite kinds of farms making infinite kinds of foods. And I thought long and hard about the kind of farm, and the kinds of farmers, I wanted to include in this story.

Using one of Storyboard That’s biography poster templates, create a poster about the character of your choice. Be sure to include important biographical features such as: place and date of birth, family life, accomplishments, etc.The designer started building this file, with the sketches and the latest version of the text, and we got a feel for how the finished book would look Not only does Roz change, but she changes the way of life on the island. What were the island and its inhabitants like at the beginning of the book when they first met Roz? What were they like at the end of the book? Be sure to use specific examples from the story. Roz stumbled on until she found a patch of ground that was flat and open and carpeted with pine needles. It seemed like a safe place, and safety was all the robot really wanted, so she stood there, motionless, all perfect lines and angles set against the irregular shapes of the wilderness. It is clear that nature and technology are very different, and they certainly clash in this story. What are some ways that they are incompatible? In what ways do they manage to co-exist? Include specific examples from the text to explain your answers. Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information.

So you read this sweet, family-friendly story by Peter Brown, and now you’re on the hunt for books like The Wild Robot? Welcome!Aren't we all a little broken and need the loving kindness of others from time to time, a gentle word here and there as a reminder that we matter to someone else? I know I do. I could not imagine a better followup to the Wild Robot and I am hoping against hope that there will be a third. Of course, the book is also illustrated. I loved the art in the previous book, and I loved it in this one. The style just fits perfect with the writing style. One of the most in-demand juvenile titles of 2018, The Wild Robot Escapes introduces new questions about the nature of conscious existence while revisiting ones raised by The Wild Robot. Can a robot be alive the same way as a human? Do circuits and wires have the potential to produce the spark of real life, or are they a simulant, fooling a robot brain into thinking it has emotions? If a robot deviates from the maker's design to engage with emotions that seem human, has that robot attained a higher level of being, or is it exhibiting symptoms of a glitch, maybe even a dangerous one? Roz the robot can't outrun the implications of her own existence, which is why she resigned herself to be captured and returned to human society at the end of The Wild Robot. She much prefers life on a remote island with animals, including her adopted son, Brightbill the goose, but Roz had no desire to endanger her furry friends whenever the next fleet of RECO robots would arrive to retrieve her. Phase two of her adventure is about to commence. Science fiction meets fantasy in this delightful sequel that gives readers a unique look into what technology could someday have in store. A must-buy for any middle grade collection.”― School Library Journal, starred review
