About this deal

As always, Colfer’s latest novel is full of criminal hijinks and humour of both the witty repartee and physical comedy variety. For me, the most exciting part was when my suspicion that Holly was Lazuli’s mentor was confirmed towards the end of the novel.

Introduce preschoolers to the wonderful world of twins with these engaging early reader books. From stories that celebrate the unique bond between twins to tales of new siblings and exciting adventures, these books are perfect for young readers exploring the concept of twins. Though later dubbed “The Twins” after joining the Special Operations Executive, the brothers were in fact born more than 10 years apart – Henry in 1903 and Alfred in 1914. No Two Alike byKeith Baker: Celebrate the uniqueness of each snowflake in Keith Baker's delightful book. Through stunning illustrations and simple text, young readers will discover the beauty of winter and the wonder of nature's creations. It soon becomes clear that there is a horrendous event that both twins witnessed when they were teens that has shaped the course of their lives. Whilst Margo has no memory of this event it is clear that Cora does and she desperately wants to stop Margo from uncovering the details surrounding it. Whilst I am not painting Cora in the best light I did feel for her at times, I often questioned whether she was trying to protect Margo out of love?Look, I know I’m not the target audience for this book. But I’m the target audience for this book. Hear me out, this book is a spin-off, it’s relying on a basic familiarity with the Artemis Fowl world and it’s characters. I have been reading Artemis Fowl since it was first published which makes me, in a way, the exact person you want this book to appeal to because I’m the kind of person who last read all the books a year ago (at 30) and was still finding them clever and witty and well-rounded. The story is told from both Core and Margo’s perspectives, moving from one to the other between the chapters. These two sisters are very different and you are drawn to both. They share their story with you leaving you amazed at the different opinions they have. The author draws you into these sisters’ world beautifully with this original story. L V Matthews writes a compelling tale, I am eager to read more of her work. Here we have a couple of guys of war-fighting age and physique who are absolutely passionate about getting revenge on the Germans,” Jacobs says. “But something the SOE had to do in the early days was temper their aggression. At first the brothers wanted to kill and maim as many as Germans they could. The SOE had to say, ‘Actually you can be more useful than that.’ This was not about just killing. It was more subtle than that.” As Margo’s supply of anxiety tablets runs out, she starts to remember fragments of how Annie died. Margo’s therapist and Cora’s ex-boyfriend also provide Margo with some clues. But can she take the truth? What Alfred and Henry Newton did next is the subject of Peter Jacobs’ new book – The Twins: The SOE's Brothers of Vengeance – a story which sounds more like a Hollywood film plot than real-life events: two tap-dancing brothers who vow bloody revenge on the Nazis, join an undercover military operation, and have to survive the brutality of the Buchenwald concentration camp.

Twins at St Clare's byEnid Blyton: Join Pat and Isabel O'Sullivan as they start their new life at St. Clare's boarding school, encountering adventures, friendship, and plenty of mischief along the way. We are introduced to Cora and Margo, identical twins who couldn’t be any different. Margo is a live in nanny who is devoted to looking after the children in her care. She takes her job seriously and clearly has a lot of love and affection to give. Cora on the other hand is narcissistic, she would do anything to achieve her dancing dreams and no one is going to stop her. An aside: It is so weird to realize that Artemis is a young adult now, in his twenties. But in any case I find it difficult to believe that eleven-year-old Myles is actually running rings around my favorite ex-criminal mastermind, even if Colfer is trying to set up the "Look out world, now there's two Fowls on the loose, and they have even more potential than their brother". Also, just to put it out into the universe, I would absolutely read about Artemis's adventures in space/on Mars.) Two is for Twins byWendy Cheyette Lewison: Embark on a delightful journey through the alphabet with twins, exploring the world of twins and the special things that make them unique.

Transported to Liverpool, Alfred and Henry were among the first non-armed forces personnel recruited into the Special Operation Executives (SOE). Along with the Commandos – which carried out raids in Europe – the SOE was formed in 1940 as part of an initiative by Winston Churchill. I liked that it continued on with some of the subtle good messages and morals, such as being environmentally friendly. Always good for children reading. The story itself is also fast paced, and full of fancy technology talk that I’ve come to love with the Fowl novels, without dumbing down the language for a younger audience. The writing overall also still retains a lot of humour, and is so easy to read. The threats and scrapes the boys get into feel realistic too, and the villain of the piece is great.Twin to Twin byMargaret O'Hair: Join a set of twins as they explore their special connection and learn that being a twin means having a built-in best friend. The Twins were arrested and held at the Montluc military prison. One of their interrogators was Nikolaus “Klaus” Barbie, a Gestapo chief dubbed “The Butcher of Lyons” for his notoriously brutal methods. What parent in their god damn right mind leaves twin boys alone under watch of an AI when they both epically failed to properly parent their first kid?!?!) Ive got identical twin sons and often find books about twins INCREDIBLY clichè... swapped at birth.. own parents don't even know them apart.. lumped together as the same person.. no individuality.. NOT IN THIS BOOK! The fact that Margo and Cora are twins is very much a minor part of their identities in this book and I found that so refreshing and exactly as it should be.
