About this deal

Either way, we found the energy draw to be quite similar to that of the AC cooling mode. It begins slow but soon ramps up to 300-350 watts. In max mode, once operating for an hour or more, we found it to draw a steady 325 watts at a maximum fan speed. Operating it in eco or night mode will lower this by about 80-100 watts, resulting in a draw of 200-260 watts. Fan Mode This flexibility is outstanding, but it does rather increase the complexity of the Wave 2, adding an extra outlet hose, and three separate hose adaptors that clip over the external vents.

The EcoFlow WAVE 2 uses R290, a natural refrigerant that’s clean, green, and perfect for a relaxing cooling experience. With lower global warming potential and no ozone emissions, it’s the ideal way to stay cool and comfortable compared to traditional refrigerants while reducing your carbon footprint. EcoFlow WAVE 2 Swappable Battery The Wave has a sound rating of less than 55dB, but it gets quite loud in a small space, especially when the fans are spinning at maximum speed. I found Eco mode even more annoying because the compressor and fans constantly turn on and off.

Battery life on the Wave 2 is very good. Using it in maximum mode, I was able to get more than two hours of use out of the system; dropping down to Eco mode boosted this to just shy of eight hours, although sacrificing some cooling ability along the way. Highly compact at 20.4” × 11.7” × 13.2” (518 × 297 × 336 mm), you can take WAVE 2 anywhere — from road trips to camping adventures, without sacrificing valuable space in your motorhome, car, or your living room. 27% More Powerful Using this battery is neater, as it clips into the bottom and becomes fully integrated. However, if you have a compatible power station, such as the Delta 2, you can buy a cable that links the two together, reusing your existing battery. While the air conditioner may leak if not setup with a slight downward tilt, and it also requires some forethought in terms of ducting, it has a lot of positive traits going for it. Sure, it’s incredibly expensive, but if you have the means and the need for a relatively portable, well-designed air conditioner that can also provide heat, look no further.

No drainage is needed in cooling mode when humidity is below 70%, but it is still needed in heating mode. Silent Running of The EcoFlow WAVE 2 Portable Air Conditioner the installed gross capacity of the photovoltaic system does not exceed or will not exceed 30 kilowatts (peak), according to the Marktstammdatenregister. The Ecoflow WAVE 2 Portable ACis a smart, portable cooling and heating solution for those needing a compact but powerful unit. Its no-drainage design in cooling mode makes it ideal for people who don’t want to deal with installation or hiring a professional. The first generation of the WAVE Portable AC was a groundbreaking achievement in compact and efficient cooling. But now, EcoFlow has raised the bar and delivered numerous innovations by introducing the WAVE 2 Portable AC. The WAVE2 Portable AC lasts up to eight hours with Eco Mode. Say goodbye to sleepless nights in a stuffy, overheated tent or bedroom!

Specs of DELTA 2

For air conditioning, the EcoFlow Wave 2 is rated at a maximum of 5100BTU, although that assumes mains power, which it draws 550W; on battery power, power consumption is slightly reduced to 495W. I found that power consumption on maximum hovered around the 430W mark. That’s still relatively efficient for an air conditioning unit, and that’s down to the quality of the compressor inside. Speaking of, the add-on battery is a nice addition (if you can afford it). It slides right onto the base, latches into position and connects via the included XT150 cable. The battery has a built-in handle with a power button and LED battery-life indicators on the front. There’s also a USB-C and USB-A charging port on the front corner of the battery – pretty cool. However, there’s one main caveat to the battery – it cannot be charged without being physically attached to the Wave 2 unit. That said, there’s no inclusion of a power input on the battery itself; only on the Wave 2 unit. As a result, you must keep the battery attached via the XT150 cable if you would like to charge it. The EcoFlow Wave 2 is a game changer when it comes to efficient heating and cooling. While it’s not perfect, it’s likely the best portable air conditioner currently available on the market. And with its ability to act as a heater as well, there’s truly nothing similar to compare it to, putting it in a class of its own. It’s relatively quiet, portable and well designed. While the original WAVE Portable AC already had the industry-leading portable cooling capacity of 4000 BTU, the WAVE 2 Portable AC takes it to another level, further widening the gap between EcoFlow and the rest of the market.

The Wave uses an inverter compressor to output 4,000 BTUs of cooling power. Although that isn’t nearly as powerful as a typical window unit like the 8,300 BTU Windmill AC or the 12,000 BTU Frigidaire Gallery Cool Connect Smart Portable Air Conditioner, those models are appropriate for much larger spaces (350 square feet and 550 square feet, respectively). On the other hand, EcoFlow claims the Wave can reduce the temperature in a 64-square-foot space by six degrees Fahrenheit in as little as eight minutes, which makes it ideal for cooling tents, RVs, and other small spaces. Air conditioners are notorious energy hogs. They tend to require a high amount of amperage which results in incredibly high energy use over the long term. So much that typically, you cannot power a standard air conditioner with a typical off-grid or mobile power setup, unless you’ve already invested upwards of ten thousand dollars (or more) for a full-fledged, high-draw power system.

Placed in a room with no direct sunlight, the Wave 2 dealt more easily with heat: my 28°C room dropped to a more pleasant 22°C within an hour.
