About this deal

Titleist have been manufacturing iterations of the Pro V1 since the early 2000s and over time they have continuously increased in popularity - both on Tour and in the amateur game. Alongside the Titleist Pro V1x, both balls have amassed over 3000 Tour victories, making them the most successful golf balls in the professional game. From the Pro V1 golf balls, you get a reliable flight and ultimately a ball you can trust to perform well from tee to green. The original (2019) was 92 compression on our gauge. The 2021 model measured 98. The new version comes in at 101. That equals our Wilson Staff Model R measurement and is only one point softer than the Titleist Pro V1x Left Dash, the firmest ball in our database. When you have a good thing going, sometimes the greatest challenge is finding small areas of improvement without changing too much. Or as my dad used to remind me, “Hey, it’d be great if you didn’t screw this up.”

Maxfli golf balls have enjoyed increasing popularity in recent years thanks in large part to the fact that there are different models available to meet the needs of any caliber of golfer and those models always are competitive in terms of performance. Additionally, whether it’s a premium golf ball like the Tour or Tour X or a budget golf ball like the StraightFli or SoftFli, Maxfli also is highly competitive across every category when it comes to price point. Who makes Maxfli golf balls? The Tour X is one of two premium golf ball offerings from Maxfli but it differs quite a bit from the other option, the Tour model. Most notably the Tour X is a four-piece construction and it features a slightly larger core, design elements that have been utilized to deliver low spin off the tee, making it a great choice for players with faster swing speeds. This ball is specifically designed for better club golfers but that is not to say higher handicap golfers will not be able to get away with the Triad as well, after all if this ball helps to break 80 it may be worth giving it a shot. The ball is available in either the standard painted finish or in an uncommon unpainted (raw) finish, Wilson says paint can affect the aerodynamics of the golf ball, not something we can notice - we'll let you be the judge.

Did you know you can buy recycled golf balls...?

An avid player, Chris currently maintains a handicap index of 2.4 and has a career-low round of 66, which he has shot on three occasions. He lives about 20 miles north of Atlanta in Roswell, Georgia, with his wife, Stacey, and is a member at Atlanta National Golf Club. The Maxfli Tour golf ball impressed me. It’s one of the best from Maxfli that I have tried. Here are a few of the key features that help it to stand out. Performance from The Tee and Green

The Chrome Soft X is designed to offer distance off the tee by reducing spin while delivering impressive spin and control around the greens - being the highest spinning model out of the Chrome Soft range. Having a compression rating of 100 the Chrome Soft X (and Chrome Soft X LS) are targeted toward tour players and better players. However, if you have a slower swing speed the Chrome Soft may be the best option in this range for you. Bridgestone are notorious for producing quality golf balls, their Tour B X golf balls definitely boost their reputation for making excellent golf balls. The Tour B X golf balls appeal to a wide range of golfers - from the big hitters to the short game specialists. Being the highest-compression golf ball in their Tour B range with a 94 compression rating this is the most represented of Bridgestone's golf balls on Tour. Most notably, Tour B X golf balls are in the bags of former World No.1 Jason Day and nine-time PGA Tour winner Matt Kuchar.Cast-urethane supporters (Titleist, TaylorMade, Snell) will tell you this formulation is more durable and feels better than injection-molded covers. Manufacturers on the other side of the fence will tell you the same. Anecdotally, our DMs and social media mentions suggest plenty of golfers seem eager to see how it fares in the MyGolfSpy Ball Lab. TBD on all of that. Premium golf balls tend to be more expensive than any other golf balls because of the technology and materials used to make the balls. Also, because many of the brands’ premium golf balls are those used by Tour players extensive R&D goes into producing quality golf balls which demand a higher price. How do I choose the right premium golf balls? Being premium golf balls, you are guaranteed fantastic performance from the TaylorMade TP5x. They behave very well from tee to green but you really get your money's worth off the tee - not just with distance but also dispersion. If you prefer a more vivid golf ball that assists with alignment, there is the Pix option in the TP5 and TP5x.

If you think the Chrome Soft X might not be the best premium Callaway golf ball for you, have a look at the comparisons of specifications to determine which ball will work best for you. The putting green is my favorite place to test to see if I enjoy the feel of a golf ball. With the Maxfli Tour, I really liked the feel on the putting green. The ball came off just a little firm, but it held its line well and helped me get my distance control down during my round. Spin The outgoing 2021 Maxfli Tour and Tour X balls were, by any measure, class-leading. Both the Maxfli Tour and Tour X received high marks in our Ball Lab and gained a lot of traction with consumers who wanted a high-quality cast-urethane ball without the top-shelf price tag. TaylorMade introduced the TP5x in 2017 along with the TP5, and since then it has been a serious competitor to the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x - in both the professional and amateur game. These balls were the first to feature a five-piece construction, this helps to deliver a long consistent ball flight off the tee and optimal spin with every club in the bag.

The Maxfli Tour S golf balls offer premium performance and an incredibly soft feel.

Titleist also offers the Tour Soft which is a slightly lower-compression golf ball and perfect for those who prefer an extremely soft ball which offers great performance. The Maxfli Tour is also a 3-piece urethane cover construction which is not as soft as the Tour S but softer than the Tour X. This ball sits in between the two other Tour golf ball options with regard to ball flight and iron spin – offering mid flight and mid spin. In some respects, the 2023 Maxfli Tour X is a textbook example of both the good and bad that can be part of the Foremost story. The best premium golf balls come in alternative versions that spin slightly less for players who prefer a firmer feel or more control off the tee. We recommend you try both kinds of feel from various distances to find your preferred feel.

Like the 2023 Maxfli Tour, the Tour S features three-piece construction with a thin urethane cover. And as most reasonable consumers would imagine, the “S” does indicate “soft” or low-compression characteristics. The Maxfli Tour golf ball sports a 3-piece urethane cover construction which still delivers low spin off the tee and high spin around the greens. The Tour ball is softer than the Tour X and flies slightly lower and produces less spin with the irons.

The Maxfli Tour X is a four-piece golf ball. With the 2021 Tour X, Maxfli shifted from dual-core to dual-mantel construction. The design carries through with the 2023 Tour X. All Maxfli Tour series balls are manufactured by Foremost in Taiwan. In addition, Foremost produces balls for Vice, Wilson and OnCore. Of the Asian factories, Foremost and Nassau tend to be the most reputable, though TaylorMade acquired Nassau Golf Co. Ltd. in late 2021. That leaves Foremost (which also has a relationship with TaylorMade) as the only third-party option currently churning out balls with cast-urethane covers. The Callaway Chrome Soft was first released in 2015 and in the years that have followed, Callaway have added the Chrome Soft X to the line-up (and the Chrome Soft X LS). All three balls perform slightly differently, however, the performance of the Chrome Soft X is most favored and successful on Tour having won three major championships in the men's game and many more in the ladies' game. Although I can’t say that the Maxfli Tour is the highest-spinning ball around the greens, you have a lot to work with here. Responsive Around The Greens
