In a flourish of drama, some of our products are classed as hazardous (HAZMAT) goods. This will impact our ability to deliver to certain destinations and use specific delivery methods. With gel extensions, the longer you go past 3 weeks, the further forward the apex of the extensions will move. This puts more pressure on the nil tip, so you want to remove or take down the nail extension to re-balance your nails and keep the apex in the correct position to maintain a strong mani. Following nail prep, apply an optional base coat and cure under a UV lamp for 2 mins or LED lamp for 30 secs. Builder gel application is different from traditional nail polish. The nails are cleaned, shaped and buffed to helps the base coat adhere to the nail, as with other nail applications. You’ll also want to clean up your cuticles before applying your builder gel. Hard gels are used to build nail extensions as they can add length that most soft gels can’t. They are similar to acrylic nails in this aspect, but still need to be cured under an LED or UV lamp. What’s the difference between gel and builder gel?
Hard gel can be damaging because it has to be filed off, which can cause serious trauma to your nails if it’s done incorrectly. Acrylic has the biggest potential of damaging natural nails based on its application with excess nail filing that can thin the natural nails and its rigid shell that can break your nails if you hit your hand on something. Other nail techs simply prefer working with acrylic, particularly if they have clients who love having their nails extra-long. Whether builder gel or acrylic is better is going to be entirely based on your personal preference. Builder gel in a bottle is less damaging to your natural nails than acrylic because it creates a thin coat on your nails that allows them to remain healthy and grow while you wear the polish. If you’re looking to grow and strengthen your natural nails, builder gel in a bottle is the best choice. Keep it clear, or apply your fave Mylee gel polish over the top! You can also use builder gel to infill nails to fix any gaps due to growth, so you won’t need to soak your gel polish off and start from scratch.
