About this deal

A flashing red light is almost always a sign that something is wrong, and unfortunately, it’s no different in the case of the BLTouch either. As the BLTouch going into alarm mode can be a result of many different things that go wrong during the self-test process, here is a list of the common culprits that accommodate most cases but isn’t exhaustive: Main functions and controls of BLTouch are the same as usual auto bed leveling sensor, consists of RC servo and micro switch . Thus, BLTouch can be applied on almost every board. For more reasons, you can install capacitive or inductive sensors, but these types of sensors vary depending on the temperature of the bed and the metal. The higher the temperature, the lower the detection range. So you can not leave a fixed value for PLA and another for ABS.

Now, you’ll need to update the G-code settings of whatever slicing program you use, such as Cura or Simplify3D. We use Cura as our slicer, so we’ll show you how to update the settings there. But whichever slicer program you’re using, you’ll need to add just one line right below G28: G29 ; Auto bed-level (BL-Touch) Changing Cura settings The fixes I've seen say updating the firmware, but all show firmware at 1.70.0 BL. Mine is at 1.70.2 BL. So I'm not sure if there are more firmware updates to apply. Sadly with so many stepper motors on the market and no set standard on their wiring, writing a guide becomes near impossible. Instead, use the diagram above to match the pairs (1A & 1B, 2A & 2B) of the stepper motors to the mainboard. If you require further assistance, I suggest reading our Stepper motor wiring guide, which details three easy ways of finding the paired/phased connections of a stepper motor. Limit Switches for Endstops Because you’ll be using the BLTouch to level your Ender 3 V2’s bed and setting the Z-axis manually, you won’t need the limiter switch. And since I always like to do HOMING in the center of the bed for safety, I activate the Z_SAFE_HOMING option.

Now that we know exactly what we’re dealing with, let’s take a look at how the BLTouch compares to two other types of sensors out there. Some users run into an issue where the nozzle digs into the bed on one side and print perfectly on the other. The reason that this happens is because the BLTouch is mounted at an angle with respect to the nozzle. So, when designing and mounting your hardware, make sure to have the BLTouch mounted perfectly square and aligned with the nozzle. A point of note, powering the SKR Mini E3 V3 via USB is not a replacement method of powering the board. Instead, it is a means to test the board and firmware settings before installing the mainboard. Power Connections Let’s not discount the old-fashioned physical microswitch. Compared to the BLTouch, this option is less accurate and possibly less reliable in the long term, since the sensing depends on physical components which can wear over time (at least for the physical switches found on most FDM machines). Created an account to say thank you for your guides. I was able to get Merlin flashed to my Ender 3 V1 with a 4.2.7 board that I got a few days ago. I imagine I will soon be a patron to get into your discord but wondered if you could throw out any suggestions for this problem.
