About this deal

As always, I listened to a random assortment of whatever caught my interest and primarily paired the OH10 with my main portable rig of a Chord Mojo mated to a Hidizs AP80 Pro DAP. The IKKO OH10 frequency response graph as measured on a IEC 603118-4 compliant occluded ear simulator (OES). Bass Shin Buddhism was persecuted in response to the Ikkō-ikki, which caused the formation of kakure nenbutsu secret societies. In summary, the OH2 focuses much more on highlighting the entire spectrum of mid frequencies (despite a very slight bleed from the midbass). The OH2 presents this frequency range as the most prominent but also harmonious and velvety at the same time. None of the three models excel in detail retrieval in this range, but their performance is adequate for non-analytical listening. One thing notable is that the crossover between timbre from dynamic and BA drivers was not noticeable. The BA driver was tuned properly to accompany the overall presentation of the dynamic drivers.

The treble on the OH2 is the most relaxed of the three models, so lovers of high-frequency registers should lean more towards the Aria to meet those needs. Having said that, there are also many users who prefer this type of presentation with limited treble extension and a calmer reproduction.

Calling Audiophiles

Both seem durable, although Dawn’s cable does worry me with long-time use. I prefer a removable cable design like the Heimdallr ITB03. No surprise for a v-shaped sound signature, the midrange is somewhat recessed in the mix, but thankfully with the OH10, it remains reasonably detailed and natural sounding. Voices and instruments have good timbre and clarity, even if they don’t jump out of the music. The upper midrange shows a bit more energy and adds a touch of liveliness to the sound. The good news is that all that low-end is (mostly) only overtly present when called for and remains under control. The sub-bass is mildly boosted and slowly falls off as frequencies increase into the midrange. Depending on your source amplification, song choice, and listening volume, the bass can tend towards being a bit excessive, but at reasonable listening levels and with a high-quality source, it is never a concern. The OH10 avoid the upper midrange nasal tonality that seems to plague some IEMs and are very pleasant to listen to. The mids are a touch on the thin side when judged with a critical ear, but overall tonality is decent. These IEMs aren’t mid-focused tuned, but what’s there is acceptable. Treble

IKKO is a transgender Japanese talent, actress, singer, hair and makeup artist, beauty director and calligrapher. She was born as Toyoda Kazuyuki. The name IKKO comes from a different reading of the kanji that make up her birth name. She is a distant cousin of actor Kora Kengo. Here we are with iKKO’s first attempt with a BT DAC, the Heimdallr ITOB03, rivaling FiiO and Qudelix which dominate this specific category. The sense of smoothness also extends to certain instruments. Winds like trumpets and clarinets are very pleasant to listen to because the OH2 manages to reproduce them harmoniously, smoothing out their rough edges at the cost of losing some details. However, pianos and electric guitars retain their details intact, with a better-defined texture. Wetherille, Kelly (2021-03-12). "Miyake Design Studio Launches Men's Wear Brand". WWD . Retrieved 2022-10-22. An octa-core chip XMOS XU208 is also inside, which promises strong decoding power and low power consumption. A high-performance Bluetooth Qualcomm QC5125 chip is also inside with BT 5.0, enabling support for AAC/SBC/aptX LL/aptX HD/LDAC and mainstream Bluetooth formats that support a 192kHz decoding rate. And it is rather dry indeed. Sub-bass extension is good, there is plenty of rumble down there, and there is no boomy mid-bass peak. Nevertheless could the bass be tighter – and it probably is with a different tips/ears combination. I’d call the bass typical for mid-price single dynamic-driver iems, but nothing special. It is certainly not the fastest around and can be somewhat blunt in some recordings.
