About this deal

There is a nice dryness all over the palate from the tannins that balances very well with the wine’s flavors. Finish With 20% of the total area of Malbec planted in the country, Mendoza is the main producer, although Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Tempranillo also stand out among its predominant varieties." After fermenting for one month, the wine was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Finally, it was lightly filtered prior to bottling.

The grapes for Kaiken Reserve Malbec are sourced from Kaiken‘s Agrelo vineyard, most of the vines were planted before 1970. I’ve also reviewed Kaiken Ultra Cabernet Sauvignon. That wine is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec. The Kaiken Clasico Malbec palate is smooth, with well-balanced acidity, round and elegant tannins and a medium-long finish. Agrelo is at an altitude of 950m and has alluvial soil thanks to the erosion of the Andes, producing ripe, good bodied reds.

Kaiken Winery is located in the district of Vistalba and relies on state-of-the-art technology. All of its wines are made with grapes sourced from estates distributed across the very best winemaking areas in the provinces of Mendoza (such as Vistalba, Agrelo and Vista Flores) and Salta (Cafayate). Wine from Bierzo | Wine from Carinena | Wine from Douro | Wine from Montsant | Wine from Priorat | Wine from Penedès | Wine from Rioja | Wine from Ribera del Duero | Wine from Somontano The territory of Mendoza can be divided into five large sub-regions, which give the varieties their particular characteristics: Valle de Uco, integrated by the departments of Tunuyán, Tupungato and San Carlos; Primera Zona, which includes the departments of Luján de Cuyo and Maipú; the Northern oasis (Lavalle and Las Heras), the East (San Martín, Rivadavia, Junín, Santa Rosa and La Paz) and the South (San Rafael, Malargüe and General Alvear), covering practically the entire provincial geography. Heat a large ovenproof frying pan until hot, carefully lift the beef out of the marinade (discarding the marinade), place the beef in the pan and sear on each side until brown. The Kaiken Malbec: Of a deep violet color, warm in the nose, with notes of ripe fruit and traces of tobacco and butterscotch. In the mouth it displays intensity, with strong, fleshy tannins; while at the same time juicy and enveloping; with a long, persistent finish. The 70 hectare Agrelo Vineyard in Luján de Cuyo, planted on deep silty loam soils at 950 metres with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonada, Cabernet Franc, Marselan, Ancellota, Semillon, and Sauvignon Blanc. It produces floral and fruity wines with smooth tannins. The Gualtallary Vineyard is planted on poor calcareous soils with Malbec, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at 4,265 metres. This is one of the highest areas in Mendoza, where the ultra-cool climate makes intense, extremely elegant wines.

Take the ribs off the grill and spread the coals out evenly. Brush the Guava Barbecue Sauce on both sides of the ribs and grill directly over the fire (high heat on a gas grill) for about 1 minute per side, until glazed.
