About this deal

The controller’s layout mirrors the software’s GUI, giving you instinctive control of performance features including Hot Cues, Sampler, Slicer, Sound Colour FX, Beat FX, Beat Jump and Pad FX. A couple we’ve already mentioned: There’s the vinyl speed behaviour (you can have the vinyl slow down / start up knob affect either of those features or both by setting your choice here), and I’ve also spoken of the line fader curve setting here, which is a nice touch. Your last 2 sentences – that’s exactly what I am thinking of doing –> getting xdj-rx and hooking up 1200s so that if I want I can use standalone mixer function on the xdj-rx. As far as the standalone mixer functionality in this: I understand that this mixer will be ‘digital’ as far as the architecture goes?

XDJ-RX with a pair or 1200s – this will give me standalone unit in rekordbox ecosystem (great to get used to Pioneer’s club standard DJM/CDJ system) and also standalone mixer for playing analog vinyls when I want to. I am not sure about DVS and Serato DJ (digital DJing) compatibility with this. When this unit is used in pure standalone mixer mode and the music comes in analog form from the SLs – can one switch off the central screen on this unit? So that a fully analog, immersive experience is created without a 7 inch screen glaring in DJs eyes in a darker bedroom setting? I know it’s a lot ago ask for (the above 5 points) but let’s just start there and see what can be done/bought. If there isn’t a gear that will fulfill all those 5 points, let’s just start crossing out particular points and see what you come up with please.fully analog mixer (in terms of internal architecture and signal processing, not that it is ‘with digital’ in that it has built in sound card) for example Xone:43 To create a playlist on to a drive you would first make it in the Rekordbox software, then “Sync” that playlist to the drive. They can be the same drive, but you would be duplicating your files. Personally I needed a larger scope and already had an investment in Traktor / Laptop. So S8 made more sense for me. 1 week in and still finding features, functionalities and quirks 😉 Lastly (please forgive me for writing so much – I am just so passionate about it) I have this question: In the mixer section we’re in reassuringly familiar Pioneer territory – standard bass / mid / treble kills for each channel plus full kill trim / gain knobs. Each channel has a silver control knob for the built-in hardware colour FX with the FX selector buttons in the middle giving you a choice of the “noise”, “crush”, “pitch” or “filter” FX that features on a lot of Pioneer gear. With the levels for booth output, master level meters and mater level control lined down the middle, everything feels ergonomically laid out with just enough space to get to grip with EQ, filters and so on. In the middle of the channel faders sits the fader for the volume level of the sampler output and buttons to sync and cue the sampler too, more on the sampler in a bit…

DJ’s have been begging for a quality up to date DJ system/Controller which does not require a laptop. Can I use serato DVS with this? That would be great if I could – all my music is in mp3 but I plan on starting buying pure analog vinyl records too. Trigger rekordbox dj's quantized Beat FX to the 3 buttons, trigger and twist the dial to manipulate the parameters of each. Get creative with high-quality Sound Colour FX – Noise, Crush, Pitch and Filter.

Features

I’ve been using a Traktor s4 with and F1 for about a year, I think it’s a brilliant system with a v intuitive design and some amazing features. When it works its amazing. The crux of it is a powerful laptop otherwise audio artifacts can soon ruin the fun. Now with the XDJ-RX, for the first time it’s possible to see how a beginner DJ could buy this as their first controller, learning how to DJ on it the “Pioneer” way, and so theoretically carry those skills right across into the pro DJ booth when ready with a minimal learning curve to adjust to. Since one of the issues people have with software / controller DJing is “but the club I want to play in has CDJs, and I don’t know how to use them!”, this could turn out to be significant. I have been forced to use Rekordbox at work, at first I hated it, but I have grown accustomed to it and its most redeeming feature is the lightness on PC load, that aside, to answer your question on playlists/Drives Do we have any rumors if XDJ-RZ is coming out anytime soon? (with 4 channels, split cues and touch screen/s) ? I also suppose that all mixers(djm series)/controllers(DDJ series)/all in one units(XDJ series) made by Pioneer handle the sound in the mixer section (or in ‘standalone mixer’ mode with DDJ/XDJ controllers) in a digital way ?? In that case is this the right thing to say that Pioneer’s equipment will never be able to rival pure analog architecture that some competition mixer’s offer (for example some of the mixers made by allen and heath)?
