The manual that comes with this spreader isn’t the best quality but it does give you the best settings to use for various products, which is very helpful if this is your first lawn feed spreader. Or, if you have lawn weeds in fall that you want to eradicate, a post-emergent weed and feed will kill these weeds, but you never want to feed a warm-season turf like centipedegrass or Bahiagrass in the fall. Feeding warm-season lawns late in the season dramatically increases the chance of winterkill.

For older, established lawns, early springtime is the best time for the first feeding session of the season. If you use a slow-releasing formula, you won’t have to feed again until mid-May. After the May feeding, you’ll need to increase the fertilizer schedule to once every six weeks to accommodate the summer growth. Keep feeding your lawn through until the end of October. You can keep weeds out of your lawn after seeding by adopting the proper watering, fertilizing, and mowing practices.
