About this deal

The Cameo 4 has had a complete make over, new aesthetic, sliding lid and a compact design make it the prefect desktop cutting system for home or small business. The Cameo 4 model has an increased cutting force of up to 5kg, and offers Bluetooth wireless connectivity with increased range. This is also compatible with PixScan technology.

The Silhouette Cameo 4 is Silhouette's latest, biggest and best cutting and crafting machine. As far as competition, the best crafting machine is a toss up between Cricut vs Silhouette, and they both have their unique strengths. Perhaps the most stand-out is that with the Silhouette Cameo 4, you have a rear-mounted touch-screen in-built into the device. With the Cricut, you'll need a tablet to work with it, and to pay a monthly subs fee for the Cricut Access software. Not so with Silhouette. The Silhouette Cameo range is the best all-round machine for crafters and designers. The advantage of the Cameo 4 is it comes in three sizes, and three prices, which means you can get the same range of materials to cut and uses but in a more affordable size. The largest Cameo 4 comes in at 24-inches, which makes it an industrial scale machine. The smallest is 12-inches, and the medium, our recommendation, is 15-inches. Which is better, Cricut or Silhouette?

You'll be able to create designs for a huge range of projects – create custom apparel, personalised party pieces, unique home decor, 3D papercraft projects, decorative decals and more! The machine uses Silhouette Studio Software technology and Bluetooth connectivity, helping you bring every idea to life with ease. It is also compatible with PixScan mats, available separately, for print and cut jobs. The blades used in the Cameo 4 Pro are chipped which means the machine will automatically detect what type of blade has been inserted into it. Once the machine has recognised the blade it will automatically send this information through to Silhouette Studio and update the software accordingly. Before the launch of the Cricut Maker 3, the Silhouette Cameo 4 had more of an edge in the Cricut vs Silhouette battle. It still has the edge on cutting strength, and while it's the more powerful machine, it's also cheaper. But there's questions over whether raw power is needed in craft cutting. Includes AutoDetect Autoblade, cutting mat, pen adapter, Silhouette Studio Software (basic), 50 free digital designs, power adapter, USB cable and power lead

This is not illustration software, It's a utility that allows you to cut shapes directly from drawings opened with Corel Draw, Illustrator and Inkscape, thereby removing the need for Silhouette Studio. There are more cut options with Cut Wizard than with Silhouette Studio. For example, when drawing you can give different colours to different lines or elements, and then have each colour cut in a different way. I'll cover this later on in the thread. Use Inkscape's layers for different elements. You can select one or multiple layers to cut/print specific elements instead of everything in the drawing.Cricut, by contrast, offers a more expansive range of tools, 13 in total compared to Silhouette's five. You can use the Rotary Blade, Knife Blade, Scoring Wheels, Foil Transfer Tool, and more when you buy them as part of a bundle or direct from the Cricut store. The machine comes with a Premium Fine Point Blade as standard. (Read our guide to the best Cricut blades for more details.)

Each Silhouette machine brings something very different to the table, although they can generally all be relied on for quality. The Cameo 4 is the latest in a series of successful die cutters under the Cameo banner. It is generally known as the flagship Silhouette cutter. It was released in Fall 2019 and has been a big hit with Silhouette fans — us included! On the surface each brand has a very similar machine and bespoke software, which we will look at in more detail. You can see an overview in our comparison chart above that reveals these are close in most aspects, which is why deciding on why is right for you, Cricut or Silhouette, can be hard. The Silhouette Alta is another machine that differientiates this US company from competitor Cricut. The Silhouette Alta takes the company's approachable design methodology from machines such as the Cameo and applies it to the complex art of 3D printing. It really is 3D printing made easy.

When it comes to cutting speed, the Cameo 4 is faster than the Explore Air 2. Cameo 4 can cut straight lines and also has a higher acceleration speed. 5. Blades You can make around 50 stamps until the ink needs to be reapplied, so the Silhouette Mint is cost efficient and cheap to run, to an extent (see below). The set also comes with four ink bottles and two stamp blanks, so you can get started as soon as it arrives out of the box. Give your DIY projects a professional finish with the Silhouette Cameo 4 Digital Cutter – working three times faster than the Cameo 3! It’s great for crafters working on large designs and, considering its quality, is sold at a very reasonable price. What material are you using? I was going to put Tamiya masking tape on top of some PVC clear binding cover (not sure of real name), then run it through machine.
