About this deal

The Whispering is a South Korean horror movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The movie tells the story of two detectives, Soo-yeon and In-chul, who are trying to solve a bizarre case involving the murder of several people in a small town. The killings seem to be connected to a mysterious girl, Soon-ae, who has the ability to communicate with the dead. Discover the beauty of the Highlands with fantastic views of Loch Lochy and the Great Glen. Ideal for peaceful, romantic weekend breaks in Inverness-shire's scenic countryside or fun activity holidays with friends and family in the Highlands. Located in the "outdoor capital of the UK", the local area offers a superb variety of outdoor activities, such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing, boating, cycling, and canoeing. During the colder months take a gondola ride up to the Nevis Range for a spot of skiing or snowboarding and more brilliant views. I liked most of the side characters , as I always do. Darcy has a way of writing them that can’t be contested by anyone other than maybe t.kingfisher lol. And I do think I would have liked the ghost mystery if it wasn’t for some other aspects of the plot. This did have potential to be a strong start to a series! Province of Quebec, 1896. Hidden in the hollow of a valley, the village of Sainte-Monique-Des-Monts conceals a secret that weighs heavily on the community. The village is left abandoned. Those who remain can only wait. But something else torments the inhabitants. A shadow prowls around the village. Some saw it, others heard it. They heard it whisper.

With a storyline that switches between now and thirty years ago, the past unravels itself and rushes up to the present, and long unanswered questions finally get resolved. I am a huge fan of Darcy Coates and I highly recommend this first volume in her new Gravekeeper series. Lilith has made a pact with the tragic muse of Greek mythology, Melpomene. She will exchange something valuable for fame and greatness on the stage. Well, the deal with the devil didn’t work out for Dorian Gray did it? You get the idea of what is to come. Purcell still manages to pull the elusive rabbit magic out of the bag however. The threat and presence of Melpomene – well I didn’t know much about this but I did wait until after the novel to research it and wow, so much to learn and investigate. I feel Laura must have had some fun researching all of this. The Whispering Muse is atmospheric, sinuous and darkly enchanting. One of my favourite things about this novel is how the theatre business was depicted: shifting and duplicitous. Nothing is ever as it seems on the surface, and people are alarmingly adept at twisting and changing their personalities to best suit their interests. Just like Purcell's other novels, the supernatural elements in this one are there to serve as a reminder of the evil in human nature - jealousy, greed and ambition - and how it can ultimately lead to ruin. But the past is not as simple as it seems, and Keira's time is running out. Tangled in a dangerous web, she has to find a way to free the spirit... even if it means offering her own life in return. Dynamic and highly-detailed environments are for you to explore. We created a full-scale village that holds many mysteries. Each door can be opened, each building can be entered. Using the 360° panoramic viewing and the zoom in functionality, you can even examine every little detail that catches your eye. Is it too dark to see? Hold up your lantern to light your surroundings and uncover the horrors that darkness beholds.

Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things): The novel opens with our protagonist, Callum Haffenden, returning (somewhat reluctantly) to Granite Creek. Despite his hesitation, he is implacably drawn to the latest missing person case in Granite Creek. Despite his dread of his past, of the whispering, he must, once and for all, discover the truth. Don’t you just love it when a book just sneaks up and surprises you? The Whispering by @veronicalandoauthor did just that!! This was a beautifully written story with some likeable and not so likeable characters, and a few moral dilemmas thrown in for good measure. The Whispering has everything we've come to expect from Australian rural noir in the way of climate and landscape, characters, hidden truths, and unpredictable plotting. Lando has cleverly woven an intricate and multi-layered story into a gripping mystery told with skill - and a good dose of obligatory treachery! I devoured it.' Lyn Yeowart, author of The Silent ListenerFor those looking for that home away from home experience, there are eight inviting mountain-style self-catering cabins on the hotel grounds. Jenny Wilcox is a character you immediately feel sympathy towards, she is desperate, selfless and therefore easily manipulated. Her life has clearly not been easy, abandoned by her father and left in debt by her brother, Jenny must provide for her younger siblings, one of whom has a disability. With very little choices in life for an unmarried woman, she makes do with whatever coin she can earn. It’s easy to see why she agrees to Mrs Dyer's offer, even when her requests become increasingly immoral. Lilith, though more complexly flawed, brazen and more ambitious than Jenny, also comes across as desperate. The way Lilith clings to the idea of Melpomene and her promise of all her desires coming true, shows us that she is desperate too but not just for wealth. Lilith is lonely and is seeking love and adoration by any means necessary. The Whispering by Veronica Lando is an absolutely amazing debut novel! It is so atmospheric, creepy and mysterious. It definitely has the WOW factor!
