The documentation for Understrap is supremely unhelpful for people who have never heard of SASS or SCSS before. While most themes limit you or force layouts/elements on you, Understrap gets out of your way and let’s you be creative. Will you invest in a proven system to up your skills and scale your business – or will you let it sit on your to-do list for another year?
On the blue bar at the bottom of the window, there should now be an eye icon that says “Watch Sass”. I have been using the Understrap themes for almost 6 years now. It is one of the best base themes for WordPress around. You could also create several child themes of the original and switch easily between them in /wp-admin/. Comes with Bootstrap (v4 and/or v5) Sass source files and additional .scss files. Nicely sorted and ready to add your own variables and customize the Bootstrap variables.You can manually install a theme if you have it in the form of a ZIP file. You can use the dashboard to upload the ZIP file. To do so, When you’re buying a strap-on, you usually shop for the harness and dildo separately. But if you’re new to strap-ons or just want something super easy, plenty of beginner kits include both pieces. These sets from Lovehoney and Tracey Cox are excellent, affordable options. Understrap solved all that problems and gave me a great chance of learning new skills, improve my criteria of developing and get closer to the best practices of this job. We use Understrap for most of our WordPress projects. We find it is a great starting point for just about any design.
The navwalker class and the widget hero carousel remain pretty much the same. The WooCommerce templates stayed mostly the same as well. In places where the class names were slightly updated for Bootstrap 5, we tried to keep both class names in place instead of duplicating entire template files. Node/Build processAfter the folder name change (you may have to re-activate the theme if you have already activated before the folder name change) you could further customise by changing the theme name in the style.css file contained in the child theme folder.
Yes! Understrap is and always will be open-source and free. Our professional dev team is now actively updating and maintaining the theme, so you'll see lots of cool improvements in the coming months, including Gutenberg support. If you did everything like I did then within “understrap-child\sass” you should find the CSS file “child-theme”. Copy the same file (after renaming it “child-theme.min”) to “understrap-child\css” overwriting the old file with the same name. Comes with Bootstrap v5 Sass source files and additional .scss files. By changing the info in that style.css file you will see the theme name in the /wp-admin/themes.php theme menu change, which may be a good way to WOW clients. Changing something that the parent theme does Developer enhancements, including new testing and the basic foundation for you to remove jQuery as a dependency (Bootstrap 5 only). I am using the Understrap theme for the last 2 years. I like the simplicity of the Understrap theme. It has a very basic structure and at the same time deep concepts of the bootstrap. The course is entirely self-paced – you can speed through it and then implement what you’ve learned, or you can watch each lesson and digest it slowly. Either way, you have lifetime access, and you can revisit the course material at any time. You may not know though, that any theme can have a child theme. A child theme will inherit its parents files and settings. Then anything you do in the child theme will overwrite what the parent theme did. On top of that it has also great documentation. I have used this framework many times and will continue using it.
