The only reason I'm giving the boss ve 8 a 4 star review is only because I personally would've liked one more feature. Otherwise it would be a 5 star! In addition, the VE8 can be run on six AA batteries or the included AC adapter, which means you can tweak settings or use the VE8 whilst travelling or in smaller spaces. A USB connection to your PC or Mac offers direct connectivity for recording to your DAW or music software. As a singer, I'd like the vocal part to be more developed and have more tweaking options. I'd like to have more options for the harmonies especially, like gender, response time (for example, the double effect can't be made tighter). There's only certain fixed harmonies you can use and you can't even mix the double effect with another harmony. I mean, you can't get too creative with the vocal effects. The Boss VE-8 makes it easy to get professional, studio-level vocal sounds right away. Just plug your mic into the XLR input and dial up some nice ambience, add clarity and control with the Enhance feature, and more. You can even call up hard-tuned electronic voice sounds, distortion, and radio voice tones to bring some modern edge to your acoustic performances. PlayYou can't trigger both vocal effects and guitar effects together. This could be very useful in a chorus for example where you need a sudden change both in the guitar and vocal sound. The Guitar Chorus and Delay are OK, but you can only use one or the other. Why? If you're going to give us three effects why can't we use all three. There are some songs where I want Rev, DLY and Chorus. Can't do it on the VE-8. I have only had my VE-8 for a couple of weeks. I had been using an older vocal processor for several years for solo gigs and recording. I was intrigued by what I read about The VE-8 and decided to take a serious look at ho this technology had Evolved over the years.

The Play Acoustic was definitely my favorite of the bunch in this realm. You have a lot of control over the harmonies, which I find very important. Not only is it easy to tweak the harmony intervals, but it’s easy to tweak the timbre of the harmonies and easy get the levels to blend nicely. I found that I would consistently get the harmonies I was looking for with the Play Acoustic, which wasn’t always the case with the other pedals. The harmonies with this pedal are also generally bright and, when playing with a stereo setup, spread well and wide in the mix. The specially designed looper in the Boss VE-8 sounds great and is ready to support your performance whenever you need it. Just use the dedicated footswitch to lay down a percussive rhythm, chord progression, vocal counterpoint, or whatever you like.
