About this deal

NiMH batteries have much less internal resistance than alkaline batteries resulting in significantly shorter re-cycle times (up to 50% faster). Set on your camera, or just tap the center SEL/SET set button, spin the dial, and press SEL/SET again.

You now have to set the flash to your camera's or film's ISO (it works from ISO/ASA 25~1,600) and your camera's aperture ( f/1 to f/90) manually, and you have to use the camera's Av or M mode to use a fixed aperture. Set these on the flash by selecting the EM mode by tapping the MODE button, then tap the SEL/SET button once or twice until the ISO or aperture blink, spin the dial to select, then tap SEL/SET again to set. You need this table to decode them. Hold the C.Fn button a few seconds, turn the dial to select which function to set, tap the SEL/SET button so the setting blinks and then change it with the dial. Tap SEL/SET again to save it (it stops blinking), and tap MODE to exit the settings. Thank goodness the 580EX II has a real red IR AF illuminator, and it covers many sensors depending on what lens you're using. It's more than just one beam. In addition to being more powerful, the 580EX II allows 1/1 (full power) to 1/128 power in 1/3-stop increments while the 430EX allows power settings from 1/1 to 1/64 in more granular 1-stop increments. I wouldn't use throw-away alkaline cells unless I was in a pinch - but I always carry a spare set of charged eneloop in my bag.The Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash can control (master) and be controlled by (slave) compatible Canon Speedlites as well as the As can be seen in the comparison pictures throughout this review, the new flash is slightly larger/bulkier than the older flash.

The Senderr will control all receivers set to the same channel. Receivers set to a different channel will not be affected. FEC overrides the camera setting while other settings are determined by the location of the last adjustment. In this mode the camera magically communicates its aperture and ISO to the flash so the flash's sensor can calculate exactly how much light to use.

Flashes can all fire at even power (Ratio Off), or you can set groups A, B and C to fire at different manual flash power levels. Press (don't hold) the Zoom/Wireless Select Button until Ratio blinks, then turn the Select Dial to make your choice. Press the Select/Set Button on the Master unit, then turn Select Dial to set the actual power level for each group. External flashes such as the Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flash are one of the most popular accessories among Digital SLR (and film SLR for that matter) owners.

Included in the communication is the FOVCF (1.0x, 1.3x or 1.6x) of the compatible digital camera body being used (film cameras are 1.0x/full frame). Take complete creative control of your images with PIXMA and imagePROGRAF PRO professional photo printers. Every time I change batteries in the 580EX (above left), I have this little fear that I am going to break the battery door off while trying to get it open. The new flash unit provides photographers with intuitive controls. The 580EX new control dial, SET button and a high-speed sync / shutter curtain synchronization button put all major functions at the fingertips of the photographer.document.cookie = encodeURIComponent(sKey) + "=" + encodeURIComponent(sValue) + sExpires + "; path=/"; The 580EX flash is compatible with all film and digital EOS cameras as well as G-series and Pro-1 PowerShot digital cameras. The flash includes two features especially for digital photography. EOS 20D and EOS-1D Mark II* digital SLR users will especially appreciate the Speedlite 580EX flash's ability to auto-compensate for the size of the CMOS sensor, and zoom the flash head automatically to match the effective focal length conversion. This feature allows the Speedlite 580EX flash to maximize the efficiency of its light distribution and produce more flashes from a set of batteries. When used with the EOS 20D or 1D Mark II digital SLR cameras, the flash and camera communicate to make fine adjustments to auto white balance by electronically monitoring the charge level of the batteries and the duration of each flash burst, resulting in consistently accurate colour for every shot. All wireless functions are off. Only basic functions such FEC, FEB and High-Speed/Second-Curtain Sync are available.
