About this deal

In the series, Warhol focuses on every animal from the Endangered Species Act of 1973 of endangered species. This act defined endangered species as a humanitarian matter, banned trade involving the endangered animals, and made steps to protect the animal’s original habitats. Like many other works by Andy Warhol, Endangered Species experienced significant success. This was probably owed to the ‘artist’s ubiquitously signature pop art 2 style and his focus on the use of specific colors. Andy Warhol – Endangered Species, complete set of ten signed screenprints, 1983, each 96,5 x 96,5 cm (38 x 38 in.) 10 Animals & Their star treatment Once upon a time, Yangtze river dolphins used to live alongside finless porpoises, but there haven't been any freshwater dolphin sightings for the past two decades. Sadly, this could be yet another stark reminder of what soon may follow for many endangered species, including the Yangtze finless porpoise. Warhol showcased many animals that are now endangered, but the bald eagle is the only one not in trouble right now. Due to the effect of shell-thinning from pesticide DDT and power-line electrocutions, the Bald Eagle population rapidly declined during the 1980s. Nowadays, better measures are in place, and you have more than 10000 pairs in the wild. Tigers are hunted for their skin or their body parts, which are often used in 'bogus' medicines. Sometimes they might even be hunted just for sport. Even more concerning is that one poacher's trap can kill more than one tiger. For example, if a mother is killed, then her cubs won't survive either, leading to the destruction of the whole family. Tigers also need space to hunt and live, but with growing human populations across their habitat, competition for space is tough. The ten paintings look nearly as the animals are live and are not painted but printed, creating a material reality. Warhol used a specific process in which assistants could apply paint as well. He said 5: Teacher stops class to pass out and explain critique sheets. Teacher uses an example that they critique together as a class. Students write their names where it says “Name of Artist” and place their drawing next to the critique sheet. Then, they get up and find someone else’s sheet, put their names where it says “Name of Critic” and critique that student’s drawing. This is a great thing to do before students have finished their artwork as it gives them suggestions as they are working on it. Although most of us won't be able to have a global impact, there are a number of things we can do to have a positive impact on wildlife in our area. total semi-finalists, 10 from each of the grade categories K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12, who have submitted eligible work, will be chosen by a jury panel of diverse arts professionals. Blue whales are the biggest creatures to have ever lived on earth. This means that they’re even bigger than the dinosaurs! Moreover, blue whales can weigh up to 200 tons, which is a whopping 181,437kg. Despite their size, blue whales only eat tiny crustaceans called krill. An adult blue whale can eat up to 40 million krill a day. Habitat destruction as a result of urban expansion, as well as farming, has made it harder for many species to survive.Axolotls are an endangered species because nearly all of their original habitat has been lost. Originally, axolotls lived in Lakes Xochimilco and Chalco in central Mexico. Over time, Lake Chalco has been drained of water to prevent flooding, and it is now completely gone. What’s more, Lake Xochimilco, is no longer classified as a lake and is now just a series of heavily polluted canals. Therefore, the prints ended up looking like mechanically reproduced photos in cheap tabloid newspapers. Rhinos are hunted for their horns, which are then powdered and used in medicines in some parts of Asia. More than 94% of rhinos have now been wiped out. As a solution, some park rangers are cutting off rhinos' horns to stop them from being killed. The Virunga Landscape has a history of political instability along with high levels of poverty in the region. This poses a substantial threat to mountain gorilla numbers as people have moved into areas closer to these great apes for food, shelter and space—over 500,000 people live near mountain gorilla habitat at present. Despite this, mountain gorillas are making a promising recovery with conservation efforts and interventions from local and international partners and the WWF through the International Gorilla Conservation Programme.

World Wildlife Day 2023 He provided 15 illustrations of species that were in danger of extinction, including Puerto Rican Parrot, Galapagos Tortoise, Mouse Armadillo, California Condor, Whooping Crane, Komodo Monitor, Sumatran Rhinoceros, La Plata River Dolphin, Paraguayan Peccary, Okapi, and Soemmerring Gazelle. Andy Warhol – Vanishing Animals The golden lion tamarin, also known as the golden marmoset, is a species of New World monkey. Golden lion tamarins are small creatures with vibrant red fur on its body and completely hairless feet. A fully grown golden lion tamarin is around 19 – 22 cm long and has a tail longer than its body, which is around 26 – 33 cm in length. What’s more, golden lion tamarins only weigh around 400 to 822 g, with very little difference between the male and female of the species. My kids are 9, 5, and 3. Each of them created an endangered species poster appropriate for their ages. Giant Pandas are endangered, and they have been for a very long time. Around 1500 specimens can be found right now. A Giant Panda requires a lot of effort to conserve its species as it needs to consume more than 20 kilograms of bamboo leaves and shoots every day for adequate nutrients, which can last for a maximum of 16 hours. 2060 pandas live in the wild, and the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) considers them endangered and relatively close to extinction. The problem is that pandas are not reproducing frequently, and that makes them increasingly rare. As the population gets smaller, they still retain the same reproductive habits. Their habitat is slowly destroyed, and as the human population grows in China, they will have fewer and fewer places to live. Encourage your children to think about an endangered animal that interests them and research what’s threatening the species' survival. Task them with including some of their research in an interesting and thought-provoking way.

Endangered animals and plants are at risk of extinction - there are so few of them that they might soon be wiped out altogether. Although some plants and animals have always evolved more successfully than others, human activity is changing the world in such a way that many more animals and plants are endangered than would otherwise be - around 50% of the plant and animal species on Earth are now at some level of endangerment thanks to human actions. The Silverspot Butterfly is known for its outstanding beauty, though its number is still dwindling. Their name is related to their silver markings that can be found under the wings. Unfortunately, the Silverspot Butterfly has a habitat very close to the city, and the open areas where they thrived once are subject to urbanization. The Silverspot’s population declined because its only host plant, the Johnny jump-up, lost its habitat. There aren’t as many fields as there once were. There are also lots of animals destroying their habitat. The Art Contest is open to K-12 grade students – residing in the U.S . or U.S. Territories-including homeschooled youth or participants in out of school time programs. The contest is an integral part of the 16th annual Endangered Species Day, Friday May 20th, 2022. These are the primary goals of the Saving Endangered Species Youth Art Contest: Endangered Species is one of Andy Warhol’s 1 most influential artworks. It raises awareness of the situation of extinct animals around the world. Warhol created the entire project in 1983, at a time when he had mastered the concepts of capitalism and production. Prints of Endangered Species were exhibited in New York and sold at various fundraising awards. The idea for this groundbreaking project came after a passionate discussion with New York art dealers, who are also a husband and wife, Ronald and Frayda Feldman. The main cause of the endangerment of Amur leopards is deforestation. Amur leopards live in forests and so, through the process of deforestation, their habitat is being torn down. Forest fires in summer are also a cause of habitat loss for these leopards. On top of this, many different industrial developments, like coal mining, oil pipelines and new roads pose a major threat to the Amur leopard population.
