At this year’s UN Climate Change Conference, COP 28, UN Women will ensure that women and girls’ rights, abilities, and needs are taken into account in climate debates and incorporated into government policies. The policy brief concludes with a set of recommendations aimed at further advancing gender-responsive adaptation. Key suggestions include strengthening the capacity for gender-disaggregated data collection, conducting gender analysis during the planning stages of adaptation plans, ensuring equitable representation in decision-making spaces, empowering women's groups, implementing locally and community-based projects, and incorporating gender-specific indicators in monitoring and evaluation processes. Studies also show that girls who are heavily into princesses are more concerned with their appearance and more likely to "self-objectify – so they think of themselves as a sexual object," says Maas. The girls that scored highest on "sexualised gender stereotypes" also downplayed traits associated with intelligence.
