About this deal

I'm quite sure plenty of other readers will love this though, there is quite a lot that happens, it just wasn't for me. I can’t put into words how much I love this book. Ever since we were first introduced to Lilly and Keller in Royally Not Ready, I have be addicted to their romance. I won't go into the storylines or plot at all, I will say for me personally I found the book to be a little on the slow side. I did love all the detail and cultural building that was put into the book as Lilly progressed through her Queen in training program with Keller. I thought this really set the scene, but maybe a little at the cost to the pacing. Lilly and Keller were likable characters but there wasn't an instant connection to them or their romance I wasn't 100% sold until much later in the book. Keller tried to say her conversions with Evan were "shallow" while theirs were "deep" but he literally wouldn't TALK to her! Deep my butt, all he talked about was how she couldn't resist him sexually and how mad they were.

When Meghan describes this as The Princess Diaries meets My Fair Lady meets 50 Shade of Grey, she’s not kidding. The journey from spraying down customers for wet T-shirt contests in Miami, to proper princess…..well let’s just say I wasn’t sure how we’d get there but boy do we get there! The thing I loved most about this book—well, there were a LOT of things I loved—but the thing that made it stand out from the other things I've read from Meghan was the mystery element! I LOVED it! I love romances with that hint of mystery, and this was more than a hint. It was huge part of the plot, and I was so here for it. I thought I had it figured out several times, and while my original hunch was *partially* right, I didn't totally have it, so for that, I give major props. I was a little worried that there wasn't going to be much to their story other than the physical relationship seen as book one ended perfectly so there was no drama (YET. not that I would've complained - Kellers mouth is 🥵) but wow wow wow I had no need to be worried at all. This book was full of ups and downs and it kept me gripped from chapter one. I have never cried so hard at a MQ book - and I sobbed HARD at Untying the Knot. This was true Keller and Lilly as we know and love them already but so much deeper and more vulnerable. Royally in Trouble continues to follow Lilly and Keller as they navigate their personal and professional relationship and go through hardships to get to know one another and themselves. I have to start off by saying 'Royally Not Ready' was one of my top reads of last year so when I found out there was going to be a sequel I was BEYOND excited. Princess diaries but with steam...what more could you want?!Lilly lost her parents at 17 to tragedy now ten years later she’s running her own bikini wagon and conducting wet t-shirt contests on the beaches of Miami enjoying her life. Keller has been charged to find the only remaining heir left to take over the throne for King Theo. You probably guessed that Lilly is that only remaining heir and now Keller has to turn this fun loving, bad word slinging American, into a Princess fit to take the throne. Lilly drove Keller nuts. I want to say in the best of ways, but she also drove me nuts. I’m not complaining that much because even when I was empathizing with Keller’s annoyance, I was laughing at it. Lilly knew just what to do to push his buttons in all the wrong and right ways. These two had insane chemistry. It kept ramping up the entire first half of the book. I couldn’t wait to see the explosion and it was everything I wanted it to be. I loved how Keller and Lilly got to know each other on a deeply emotional level and the connection they made. They were a great mix of sweet and passionate.

Royally Not Ready is a rom com, bodyguard, royalty book with loads of laughs and very few triggers. This book does have sexually explicit scenes with some BDSM. Trigger Warnings

Publication Order of The Perfect Duet Books

Royally Not Ready feels like a mix of The Princess Diaries, My Fair Lady and Meghan Quinn’s signature humor and spice. This enemies to lovers romance was really fun and gratifying. In future, I do request that you advise me of any potential plot points that may invoke similar feelings, so that I may preemptively book therapeutic appointments post-read. The tears, horniness and the way in which you hit a little too close to home could have been dealt with sooner if I’d had fair warning. Megan Quinn’s books are always a delight to read and now I’m super interested in getting the illustrated edition! Their relationship was really unhealthy honestly. I'm glad they figured it out at the end, but yeah, didn't enjoy the book. After my not so great feelings after the last story I read from this author (I'm looking at you A Not So Meet Cute)... I went into this book with a bit of trepidation. Would I like it? Would this be the end, at least for awhile, of my relationship with this author?

I totally get why this book is described as a The Princess Diaries retelling with a dash of My Fair Lady and a yummy dollop of 50 Shades of Grey, and I enjoyed this combo very much. I received an ARC from the author. The excerpts are from that copy. I am voluntarily reviewing this title.I keep telling myself, it’ll all work out. We just need to make it to the wedding day. Except, when the day finally comes, everything falls apart.
