About this deal

This is why I'm such a fan of Sage coffee machines in general because they're all about getting the best possible results from freshly roasted coffee beans. Deliberately make a super under-extracted and an over-extracted shot to know how they differ: While it can be obvious when a shot is really under or over, when it comes to finetuning, actually knowing the different tasting notes of these types of shots will really help you get the best espresso. The Touch Impress is quite a distance from the Barista Express in terms of price, so it might not be on your shortlist if you were thinking of pulling the trigger on the Barista Express, but I'll just “touch” on the impress (hehe) so you're fully aware of the difference, in case you decide it's worth the investment. I've deliberately left out what recipe I'm using right now, because I see little point in telling you I'm using X grams of beans at grind size Y when your grinder most likely grinds completely differently at that setting, especially with different beans. A spring keeps the 18-gram filter basket in place, this filter basket is included with the product!

It has the over-pressure valve set to 9 bars, it has 30 grind settings (plus the additional internal burr adjustment) and it has the Etzinger burrs. Both models have a built-in grinder, but there are a couple of differences that make the Breville / Sage Barista Express a better choice. De'Longhi La Specialita Arte Please try again later. Yes, the Breville® BES870XL Barista Express™ does come with a 54mm Tamper Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Are coffee tampers all the same size? But the Barista Express was launched in 2013, and there have been various integrated grinder espresso machines launched since then. So, is the Barista Express still worth it, and how does it compare to the Barista Pro, Express Impress, Touch Impress, De'Longhi La Specialista & Breville Barista Max? OK, the bean hopper has a tight-fitting lid, but still, you'd be better storing your beans in an airtight container and just putting beans in the hopper that you're about to use.

Best Selling

Let me just start out by making sure you're aware that these Breville machines have nothing to with Sage. Yes, they're called “Breville”, but it's not the same Breville. Are you keen on starting to make espresso at home and currently searching for an affordable entry-level home espresso machine? You probably came across both Breville (or Sage) and De'Longhi, established manufacturers in this space. Equally, you may have already looked at both the Breville / Sage Barista Express, as well as the De'Longhi La Specialita Arte models. What I really like about the Barista Express, though, is the flexibility it provides in terms of how you can use the machine. It has assistance, but you don't have to use it, or you can use it partially.

Don't do what I've heard of some doing, though, and take the internal grind to the finest setting from day one, because you'll just end up with the burrs hitting each other (which makes a slightly disconcerting strained motor sound), which isn't great. Advanced steam wand: The 360-degree swivel steam wand offers precision and flexibility, allowing you to practice and perfect your milk frothing techniques. As you progress in your coffee journey, you'll be able to create microfoam for velvety cappuccinos and intricate latte art.The Breville 54mm portafilter is a must-have for any home barista looking to improve their coffee-making skills Watching the coffee extraction process with a naked portafilter is mesmerizing and will highlight any issues with your tamping and dosing in real-time. Is Breville discontinuing the Barista Express? Motta is one of the biggest names in barista accessories This particular Motta tamper is finished with a classy wooden handle. The design is simple yet expertly crafted with a weighty base and ergonomic handle it makes tamping super easy. What is the espresso handle called? It comes with a milk jug, a tamper, and the Razor tool, which is a prep tool specific to Sage machines that ensures a level surface and also makes sure you always have the correct headspace – the gap between the coffee and the shower screen, the part that the water comes through. Another reason why the portafilter size is critical for you is the espresso tamper. The tamper is the tool you use to press the ground coffee into the basket of the portafilter to keep them compact and ready for pressing.
