About this deal

Sue Rawlinson, the crochet maven behind Sweetpea Family, has designed the Sweet Blossom Blanket as a relaxing project in 5 easy steps for crocheters of all levels. Her reassuring video tutorials will give everyone the confidence to master all of the crochet stitches featured. The fifth and final instalment of our very special crochet along 'The Sweetpea Blanket CAL' is here. Designed by Sue Rawlinson of Sweetpea Family Crochet this delightful spring blanket is made up of simple crochet stitches and is suitable for beginners.

We’ve made a slight change, we’ve swapped Grass (825) for Fern Green (603) and Light Grey Mix (814) for Grey Marl (592).....delicious combination! Many of the smaller projects such as cozy beanie hats can be finished in an evening, so they are satisfying to make and even more satisfying to give away. Second round: Work 1ch, then work 1dc in each st to the corner. Work 3dc in corner. Continue the round referring to the pattern. Work slip stitch in beginning of 1ch to complete the round. Sue Rawlinson of Sweet Pea Crochet has designed 6 beautiful, coordinated bundles for every occasion, from bringing the baby home to that all-important first outing. The first instalment of our very special crochet along 'The Sweetpea Blanket CAL' is here. Designed by Sue Rawlinson of Sweetpea Family Crochet this delightful spring blanket is made up of simple crochet stitches, suitable for beginners. Your finished blanket, in soft, washable Bonus DK will be about 120cm x 160cm, perfect for picnics or to give your sofa a Spring makeover.

Work a further 2 rows in dc but when you come to the end of your 4th row, start to work your last dc, but instead of using your current yarn to pull through the last 2 loops on your hook, change to Dark Pink, take the yarn round the hook and pull through the last 2 loops. This is a neater way of changing yarn and is used for every colour change throughout the pattern. We are very happy to announce our latest exclusive free crochet along. The Sweetpea Blanket is a glorious design by Sue Rawlinson of Sweetpea family crochet. Read Sue's introduction which we hope will get you in the mood for some spring inspired crochet! With 20 projects in total, you are spoilt for choice, and each gift set is worked in coordinated colorways and styles. Repeat the skip next 2 sts and work 3tr in next st til you get to last 2 sts, skip 1 st, 1tr in last st. row: Work 3ch, then work 1tr in the st at the base of the beginning 3ch, *work 3tr in the space between the next 2 tr-groups; repeat from * to the last 2 sts, skip 1 st then work 1tr in last st, turn.

Along with illustrated crochet techniques, there are also suggestions for gifting and finishing touches such as crocheted ties to keep your blanket folded when you give it as a gift. The blanket ties can be embellished with mini pompoms, crochet hearts or crochet flowers. A little while ago I was commissioned to design a spring crochet along and it was such a pleasure to be asked. I have had a busy few months crocheting samples and finalising my design, and it has accompanied me everywhere. It has been a lovely project to work on during the cold grey, wintery days. A new baby is guaranteed to get parents and grandparents reaching for their crochet hooks. Even those who may not have crocheted anything for years are suddenly inspired to create numerous handmade items for their new child or grandchild. I hope to have captured all of this in the Sweetpea Blanket CAL pattern and that you enjoy making it as much as I have.'

My brief was to design a blanket with a spring-like feel that was suitable for a child. It had to be a pattern that would suit a beginner who can work double and treble crochet stitches. I would say to just give it a go, it doesn’t have to be perfect at the beginning. You can always work on improving your photographs and you have to start somewhere.

If you could give any advice for anyone new to online blogging or thinking of trying it out, what would it be?
