Where most fans only offer 1, 2 or 3 different wind speeds, the Whisper has no less than 26. This way you determine exactly how hard the wind blows through space. The Whisper lives up to its name and is one of the quietest fans of its kind. The little noise that is produced is reminiscent of the wind that you hear rustling outside. If you want, the Whisper itself switches between different wind speeds and airflow directions. The height is adjustable and the fan rotates left and right as well as up and down. In this way, the cool air is evenly distributed throughout the room.
Noise levels, meanwhile, are as close to silent as you’re going to get from a pedestal fan. True, at max speed you’re looking at around 43dB from 1m away (measured with a smartphone in a room with a hard wooden floor), but at the 12 setting this drops to 35dB and at level 1 it’s only 30dB. This is ever so slightly quieter than the two Meaco fans, measured at the same time with the same equipment. Given that the Meacos are among the quietest fans we’ve ever tested, that’s a great result. Firstly, the fact that you don’t have to get up to adjust it. This might just seem like an excuse for laziness, but it’s also invaluable as a time saver if, for example, you’re working and don’t want to keep getting up to adjust the airflow in your office. The fan head requires simple assembly, with the front cover secured by a single screw. Inside the plastic cage there’s a unique blade design with distinct inner and outer zones. The outer ring contains nine stubby blades, whereas the inner circle has seven, so long that they almost overlap.
Completely wireless
You have four different heat settings and 10 speeds. Despite its slim appearance, you can heat or cool spaces up to around 50m square. Connect this fan to your wireless network, install the Duux app, and you gain control over all its functions from a smartphone. That’s handy if you lose the supplied remote. It also comes with support for smart assistants such as Alexa, meaning you can control the fan by voice from anywhere in the world. Add in options such as Google Assistant routines, and this is a fan you can truly integrate with your other smart home equipment. First is the money-saving aspect. Smart fans can save you a lot of money, especially if you’re currently using air conditioning, but even if you’re not and relying on conventional fans.
All in all, assembling the fan took me about 20 minutes. So I thoroughly recommend setting up the fan BEFORE you’re feeling hot and bothered by the heat! Until… one day I entered a metropolitan gallery for some “eye candy” of the cultural variety and was almost immediately surprised by a pleasant draft of air. I heard nothing and tried to locate the source. The Duux Whisper Flex is essentially a pedestal fan with a clever modular design, enabling it to work effectively as a room fan or a smaller floor-level fan. The motor unit sits on a mount that swivels both horizontally and vertically, allowing it to oscillate in both directions, and this connects through a tough plastic stalk to the base where the onboard controls sit. Then its time to fit the fan to the base, this slots on easily as long as you make sure to align the larger of the two pins in the motor with the largest of the holes on the base plate.

The Whisper is super powerful and extremely quiet. Due to the smart structure of dual fan blades, the product is up to 7x more powerful than traditional fans. In addition, the Whisper is very quiet with a noise level from 13 decibels.
