About this deal

Sebastian looks at Gerald and then walks out. Gerald says, "Ladies and gentlemen! Ladies and gentlemen, please raise your glasses to the champion of Midsomer Morchard. Now champion of the world! John Kinsella!" ( Cheering ) Later at night, Gerald goes to look at the statue. He climbs up on it and pulls a document out of the left hand of the statue. He goes home. John Kinsella, Frank Bishop and Teddy Molloy wait at the airport in the US as all flights from Newark have being delayed. John makes a smart-ass comment to Frank who is trying to get a signal on his cell phone. Molloy tells John not to wind him up. John says, "Be all right as long as I'm worth money to him." Molloy says, "You won't always be world champion." John says, "When that day comes and he's wrung me for every penny, he'll drop me like a stone. Just like every other fighter he's managed. So what are you going to do about it, Teddy?" Molloy says, "Grace is working on it."

Little if anything in "The Noble Art" is done terribly, but it is one of those episodes that executes its components with competence but all those components have been done in previous 'Midsomer Murders' episodes better and with more impact. Competent but a bit safe and bland. The Noble Art" is somewhere in the middle as far as Season 13 goes. It is a let-down after "Master Class", which blew me away and was the best 'Midsomer Murders' episode since "The House in the Woods". However, it is infinitely better than "The Made-to-Measure Murders" and especially "Blood on the Saddle" (almost anything is better than that episode this said). John Lightbody is gardener Steve Hope in "Hidden Depths", in "Death and Dust", he plays the role of Jason Slater. Barnaby and Jones go to Morchard Manor. They tell Gerald about Iris Holman and her request to meet them at the statue of Tom Sayers. He used to be a Freemason, as revealed in "King's Crystal". In the episode "Death in Chorus", Jones exhibits a remarkable vocal talent and is recruited to sing tenor in the Midsomer Worthy choir. In "Death in the Slow Lane", it is revealed that Jones was interested in replacing Tom Barnaby upon his retirement and was a little put out by his cousin, John Barnaby, being transferred to the position instead. In reality, he could not have been given the post because it would have required him to bypass the rank of inspector.Gerald says, "Have you no idea how to behave?!" Sebastian says, "Look who I've had as a role model." Gerald says, "How dare you say that! I would never be so crass to guests in my own house." Sebastian says, "How about somebody else's house? Oh, everyone loves Gerald Farquaharson. So charming. A proper gentleman. Not like that son of his. Well, I might be crass. But it's your louche behaviour which has brought us to losing this house and the entire estate! So what are you going to do about it?" Everyone is in a hurry to see Giles, including Gerald himself and the Bishops, as well as Gerald's son Sebastian. Unfortunately for them, Giles is murdered, and someone has ripped through his office.

Serena Gordon appeared as Ginny Sharp in "Market for Murder" (2002) and later appeared as widowed Christina Finleyson in "Midsomer Life" (2008). She held the document that legalised the wager. She was asking for money. But what she really wanted was revenge.
