About this deal

The writing was mediocre. The number of times he used the idiom 'The penny dropped!'. That is a really nice phrase, but you don't have to use it so many times. The author seemed to have got bored midway. Its like a parody of police investigation books, a very dumbed down version of a murder series, and as if a 5 year old had been asked to write down a conversation he thinks an adult might have. Dystopian Fiction Books Everyone Should Read: Explore The Darker Side of Possible Worlds and Alternative Futures Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Crime, Fiction, Mystery, Mystery Thriller, Psychological Thriller, Suspense, Thriller

When will the bad guys learn that they have to kill the hero when they get the opportunity, and not start baring their souls. Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information. I am not sure if there is a bit of autobiographic fatalistic pessimism and nihilism in there too, could be subjective and thereby wrong, but regarding the circumstances of the creation of this work, it could easily be possible that we are seeing a reappraisal of life and preferences after a tragedy hit one of the most amazing thriller authors out there. The extremely rare case of the personal tragedy of an exceptional author who wrote this novel around the death of his partner and included and added dark, meta horror to the usual serial killer setting. The police caption Blake was also a complete jerk. After the failure to catch the killer, she was so disparaging. And she was not supporting the detectives in any way. They didn't even know that there were some recent victims, who could be alive. All they had to do was read the complete diary. An insanely good crime series. Extraordinarily well written, high quality and high drama all the way’ Liz Loves Books With no forensic evidence to go on, Robert Hunter must catch the most disciplined and systematic killer that he has ever encountered, someone who thrives on the victims’ fear, and to whom death is a lesson that needs to be taught. Puiki dalis, kupina veiksmo, įtampos ir galvosūkių. Nors Hanteris gudrus, šį kartą jo varžovas tikrai jam nenusileido.

An exceptional thriller writer who fully deserves to be ranked alongside Jeffery Deaver’ Daily Mail Bob Mortimer wins 2023 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with The Satsuma Complex Release date for this book is 23rd July 2020 and I 100% recommend going and getting yourself a copy. When Robert Hunter, a Detective with the LAPD's Homicide Special Section, receives an anonymous call directing him to go to a certain private web broadcast, a show designed specifically for him begins as soon as he logs in. The mysterious caller however doesn't want Hunter to just watch, but rather participate in an act where refusing is not an option.

Customer reviews

The stupid murderer who carries the murder book with him, and quite careless with this damning evidence. In the end when the killer had Hunter at gunpoint, yet went on confessing, I almost expected Hunter to say. 'It is not too late, Voldemort, feel some remorse and save your soul'. A journal ends up on Robert Hunter's desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose.

A journal ends up on Robert Hunter’s desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose. Not wanting to give away any spoilers, but the lead female character was rather annoying. I found myself at one stage wishing that she would.... let's leave it at that. For someone so supposedly smart, most of her actions were damn stupid. This led me to feel that the book was not as polished as some of previous ones in the series. It felt like a rush job. But this discovery does more than just link the two killings. It suggests that this is the work of a serial murderer. If I have any quibbles on the plot it is probably the Detective Garcia character who I thought was weak being used mostly as someone for Hunter to explain things to, even when he does reach his own conclusion we are usually reminded that Hunter had got there before him . . . as if we didn't already know. Garcia needs to be pepped up with more of his own personality rather than just being a prop for Hunter.Written in Blood will leave you holding your breath whilst waiting to find out more. With detailed descriptions of bizarre murders, no two are the same, it is an addictive read and excellent addition to the Robert Hunter series. The only small negative for me was that some things were over-explained with not every comment needing an explanation. Labai patiko ir Andželos personažas. Tikrai nesupykčiau, jei kažkokiu būdu, ji dar grįžtų į būsimas istorijas.

Every character, every conversation, every detail is inane and states the obvious, and a lot of the paragraphs about Detective Hunter are copied and pasted from previous books (his history, education, job, sleep, whiskey etc). For Hunter, there is no doubt that the killer is trying to communicate with the police, but the method is unlike anything he’s ever seen before. And what could the hidden message be?

Advance Praise

And that´s just the industrial world, imagine what must go in in the Southern hemisphere or in the areas of Europe and North America that are under control by organized crime. If one single person with special skills, talent, and motivation could do it, what could the criminal franchise equivalent of a megacorporation conglomerate do, let´s say a cooperation of Asian, Russian, and European crime syndicates that don´t fight, but work together and help each other? My usual pragmatic self was somewhat surprised the detectives didn’t race through the book trying to find and identify the sixteen or so victims, but guess that would have been a tad laborious for we readers. But then he decided to try his hand at writing. His debut has proved to be a successful endeavor with twelve more titles following it. All of them feature his protagonist of Robert Hunter and have been translated and published in many languages and countries.
