These 1200 gauge DPMs from Capital Valley Plastics are designed to prevent moisture from the ground entering a property. The low density polythene sheets create a barrier between a concrete slab or screed and the final flooring finish. Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of internal building conditions, the Visqueen Vapour Barrier DPM can be used within roofs, walls, and floors, making it a valuable addition to your construction project. Humidity Limitations: The Visqueen Vapour Barrier is designed for use in environments with humidity levels less than 60% at 20 degrees Celsius (BS5250: 2002 class 2 and 3 conditions), making it less suitable for buildings with higher humidity levels or more demanding conditions. When DPMs overlap you should use DPM tape to seal the joints. We sell both single and double sided DPM tape. Care should be taken to ensure that the membrane is not stretched or displaced when placing the concrete or screed over the membrane. Sufficient allowance should be made to avoid bridging (i.e. creating areas of unsupported membrane) during screeding operations at internal angles, etc.

Installation Complexity: Proper installation of the Visqueen Vapour Barrier requires adherence to the recommendations of BS5250: 2002 ‘Code of practice for control of condensation in buildings’, and may necessitate the use of various tapes and accessories to ensure a continuous and properly sealed barrier. Installing a DPM in the concrete slab helps protect your flooring from moisture transmission.
