Philips had been toying with the idea of a premium Vodka to rival the already popular Absolut Vodka brand and his search took him to Poland.

In 2002, 40% of Millennium was acquired by the luxury goods group LVMH [8] and in April 2005 this stake was raised to 100%. [9] The brand was endorsed by Chelsea Handler and sponsored her Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang comedy tour based on her book of the same name in 2010. [4]

Liberated from the dead hand of Communism in 1989, free enterprise in Poland was relaunched. The old Polska Zvardow distillery, with a vision for a premium Vodka, began producing Belvedere Vodka in 1993, with the first bottles coming off the production line in 1994.
