About this deal

Even though we don’t know your results quite yet, just know that they’re not the be-all and end-all. Headteacher Nat Nabarro has said “I am incredibly proud of all of the staff and students and parents at Blaise High School. This group of students have attended school through a period of national crisis, they are the first set of students for whom their grade boundaries have returned to pre - covid levels, and that is despite these students being disproportionately affected by COVID. Principal Rob King said: “This fantastic group of students has lived through a hugely challenging two years. Despite the uncertainty, they have worked hard and risen to the challenges in a way that is so impressive.

I am so grateful to be your parent and to have you in my life. You bring me endless joy and happiness, and I couldn’t be more proud of the person you are becoming. I love you more than words could ever express. Results day is right around the corner meaning it’s almost time for students up and down the country to celebrate their exam successes. After spending a lot of their spare time studying and revising, the least they deserve is some praise and a well done from those around them. If you want your card to stand out, then why not add a personal message inside? Might be worth getting a DNA test sorted because I’ve no idea where you got your intelligence from. You don’t have to write a lot to encourage your recipient in a big way. It’s fine to keep your personal message short and sweet—especially when the card itself has already said quite a bit.As you embark on the next chapter of your life, I want you to know that I am here for you, always. No matter where life takes you, you will always have a home with me, and a safe place to turn to. You are capable of achieving anything you set your mind to, and I know that you will go on to do great things in this world. Keep chasing your dreams, my love, and never let anyone tell you that you can’t succeed. I believe in you, and I will always be your biggest fan. For students collecting their results, those opportunities will be greater than ever before thanks to our brand new T-levels, alongside A-levels and other vocational and technical qualifications.

Teens comparing their grades with friends is inevitable, but it can be damaging. Experts tell LIsa Salmon how parents can help. Everyone knows that you are intelligent and wise, therefore, no exam can stop you from achieving your goals. You know everything you need to know. Show them how it’s done and make mama proud! Because of the disruption students have faced there are still grade protections in place which mean a student will be just as likely to achieve a particular grade this year as they would have been before the pandemic.”As I sit down to write this letter to you, I am filled with a sense of awe and wonder at the incredible young woman you have become. You have always had a spark within you, a fierce determination to chase your dreams and make them a reality. Watching you achieve your goals and surpass all expectations has been one of the greatest joys of my life. You’ve done us all so proud; we knew there was a brainbox in there (even though five years from now, you likely won’t remember most of what you learned)!

An Ofqual spokesperson said: “This year is the second in the phased return to normal of national exams. This means we expect grades to be similar to those seen in 2019, the last year before the pandemic. But although there’s no getting away from teenagers comparing their results both on and offline, what can parents do to try and limit the damage this it can cause? Writing tip: If you know your recipient admires a particular well-known person, past or present, see if you can find some inspiring words from that person.

The proportion of GCSE entries awarded top grades has fallen from last year but is higher than before the Covid-19 pandemic, national figures show. Hundreds of thousands of teenagers across the country received their GCSE exam results on Thursday in a year when efforts have been made in England to return grading to pre-pandemic levels. More than a fifth (22.0%) of UK GCSE entries were awarded the top grades - at least a 7 or an A grade - this year, down by 4.3 percentage points on last year when 26.3% of entries achieved the top grades. However, this remains higher than the equivalent figure for 2019 - before the pandemic - of 20.8%.

You’ll Do Great

From the moment you were born, I knew that you were destined for greatness. Your curious and adventurous spirit, your infectious laughter, and your kind heart have always set you apart from the crowd. Seeing you learn and discover new things has been a constant source of wonder and inspiration for me. A Department for Education spokesman said: “This year, GCSE grading is largely returning to normal in line with plans set out by Ofqual almost two years ago, to ensure qualifications maintain their value and students get the opportunities they deserve. I bet you’re feeling pretty full of yourself right now, so take advantage while everyone still cares. You were made for this” is an encouraging statement we can make about someone. If they are nervous about something coming up in their future, “you were made for this” will show them that we believe in them and we think they have made the right choice.
