Like many breweries in Germany – where six in every 100 steins drunk is under 0.5% ABV – Jever has produced a non-alcoholic version of its famous pilsner in more recent times. Called “Fun”, it comes in at under 0.5% ABV. Jever Fun is a perfectly quaffable alcohol-free pilsner lager, not reinventing the wheel, but doing what it does with aplomb. Classic pilsner flavours and aromas abound, and if every bar served this I’d be a very happy non-drinker – though I’d probably pour it into a glass to hide the awful branding. Buy Jever Fun As defined by governmental guidelines ow sugar means the drink contains less than 2.5g of sugar per 100mls. Products with a higher sugar content cause a spike in insulin and we react by storing more carbs as fat. You may also notice that although lower in sugar there is some carbs, this is usually more complex forms of sugar such as starches and fibre and the body uses these for energy.

Jever removes the alcohol rather than halting fermentation early, which means the yeast eats all the sugars from the grain leaving no sugar in the finished product and just 13 calories per 100ml. When the "Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever" was founded by Diedrich König in 1848, it was only one of several breweries in the region. König, however, was convinced from the beginning that his beer was something special. After his death in 1867, his son sold the brewery. Theodor Fetköter took over the brewery. He began by developing the small family business into a large brewery operation, started to advertise and developed special bottles. In 1848, he played an important part in installing the first water supply system in Jever.

It’s only in the last five years as researchers uncovered a growing trend towards sobriety that brewers sat up to take notice.

Fun pours a light amber with a thin head of foam floating up top. The aroma is sharp and grainy yet still pretty clean. There’s no sign of the herbal, peppery notes that Jever’s full-strength pilsner is known for.One German brewery that does this is Jever, which boasts that the water from its well is unusually pure and soft. This would have had a major influence on it choosing to brew pilsners when it first started producing beer in 1848. During the ensuing decades the take up remained slow in the UK but other countries, such as Germany and Spain, were continuing to produce superior alternatives as social attitudes hardened against drink-driving and liquid-lunch lifestyles. When we launched in 2006 as the uk’s first online specialists in alcohol-free alternatives we introduced a bevy of bevvies from across Europe. By the 1960s the brewery was riding the wave of Pils-popularity, with their flagship Pilsener selling like, well, cold beer, which in turn fuelled expansion for the company. By the beginning of 2005 the brewery was acquired by German big boys the Radeberger Group, joining a slew of other veteran brewing brands. Pilsner malt greets us as we drink, providing a good base for some herbal and grassy Saaz hops notes to build on. What starts off as a soft bitterness ramps up slowly as we drink, resulting in a pleasing clean bitter taste as we round off the drink. There are hints of citrus in there too, and a slight honey sweetness. Carbonation is not too high and the body is quite light, not veering off too much into watery territory. We get a dry finish to the drink.

The ski resort Alpenpark Neuss is located in the County of Neuss ( Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen), Düsseldorf). Nowadays though, it’s a moot point. It’s a good story for the labelling though. And does mean the brewery has had 170 years to perfect its pilsner, which is available around the world as well as in its home country.Svart/Hvit from @nogneo . Treacle, coffee, roasted malts and vanilla on the nose, restrained bitterness with more roasted grains, coffee and a slight caramel sweetness as we taste. Lovely hefty body. Could easily pass for a full-fat stout free-beer.co.uk/nogne-o-svar… #alcoholfree @FreeBeer_UK - Sep 5

Jever Fun was first produced in 1991 as an ‘alkoholfrei’ version of the brewery’s popular Jever Pilsener. It’s brewed as a full strength beer and then the alcohol is removed via cool vacuum distillation. I find the name of the beer to be rather cringeworthy. Drinking a beer from a bottle labelled ‘fun’ just looks silly in my eyes, like eating a meal named ‘yummy’. Watered-down and weak, the branding is not a good start. Let’s pop the top off this bottle and hope the beer is an improvement. Lemon Aspen Pilsner from @SobahBeverages . Citrus on the nose, orange marmalade, malts. Citrus when we taste too, but it's more earthy and floral than your traditional citrus fruit. Works well in the lager free-beer.co.uk/sobah-lemon-… @FreeBeer_UK - Nov 10 Jever “Fun” is a low-alcohol (0.5%) pilsner-style lager. In this review, find out how it tastes plus get info on where to buy it. Alcohol Free Beers are made just like the alcoholic ones with water, yeast, hops and barley. Some are brewed to a lower ABV and some have the alcohol removed through various techniques. Across Europe beers below 0.5% ABV are classed as alcohol free. In the UK drinks that are between 0.05% and 0.5% ABV are classed as non-alcoholic. The law, which has been through several iterations since its introduction in the 1500s, says beer should be produced from nothing but malted grain, hops, water and yeast.

Hello,

Since 1994, the brewery has belonged to the Dortmunder Brau und Brunnen Group, which was acquired by Radeberger Group, at the beginning of 2005.
