About this deal

TIP: Working a horse on the lunge is more intense than riding, so don’t overdo it. Five to 10 minutes equally on each rein with plenty of walk breaks is sufficient for a lunge session. As your horse’s fitness improves, you can increase the time. What to look out for Because the rein rings on the cavesson sit further forward on the horse’s head than rings on a bridle, a longer rein should be used. Cavesson specifications French Baroque style According to the Duke of Newcastle, the horse will be towards the bit in a better way and will respond to all the demands of the rider’s hand if it has been educated on the cavesson in the first place. We were thrilled to be awarded as runner-up in the innovation awards at BETA 2012 against some very strong competition. The judges said: “The low cheeks and wide noseband are beneficial adaptations resulting in a comfortable and well-fitting cavesson. It is user friendly, durable and offers excellent value for money”. Epic rugs are now available in our original heavy horse Broad Fit, for heavy weight horses & ponies, and a Regular Fit, for light-medium weight horses & ponies.

Don’t just go blindly following my opinions without considering the circumstances surrounding you and your horse. Every horse and rider pair is different, and not every training method is right for every single horse or rider out there. Any trainer who tells you that their method works 100% of the time for every horse and rider on the face of the planet is an idiot and should be ignored. What is right for me may not be right for you. Only once a horse has full range of motion in their jaw will they achieve ultimate relaxation. Tweet Is a Cavesson Right for You?This is the one I'd really like http://www.balanceinternational.com/The-BALANCE-Magic-Lunge-Cavesson-CAV_A10O5Z.aspx, but it's really expensive... When riding with a full cavesson and a snaffle bridle, fit the cavesson high enough on the horse’s head to prevent the cavesson nose band from pinching the corners of the mouth. Directions for use with horse bridle: Place the heavy horse lunge cavesson under the horse bridle, with the noseband of the heavy horse lunge cavesson under the horse bridle cheekpieces. You may need to lengthen the horses bridles cheekpieces and remove the heavy horse lunge cavesson to reduce bulk. The noseband should be just below the cheekbone, several inches above the nostrils sitting on the nasal bone, and fitted snugly. The jowl strap should be snug to prevent the heavy horse lunge cavesson from slipping into the horse's eye. The cavesson has been invented to teach our horse to bend, halt, place the head and hindquarters correctly, and to make the body and limbs supple and flexible, without harming the mouth. Auxiliary reins: None. The horse should find a position in which the ribcage lifts and the hind leg work by the correctly executed lunge work from the casual posture.

The noseband is a chain wrapped in soft leather and has three attachment rings, the middle for work with one rein and the outer for long reining and work with two reins. The throat lash is fixed. A traditional leather lunging cavesson is made from supple leather with a noseband of all leather or metal wrapped in soft material. The cavesson’s noseband typically has three rings, one in the middle/top of the nose, and one on each side. During groundwork, the lunge line is typically attached to the middle or top ring.

don’t always fit the side reins in the same position. Altering their height during a session, as well as from session to session, allows you to change your horse’s frame and, therefore, his way of going. Experiment to see what happens when they’re lower or higher A lunge cavesson provides a bitless method of control and it has a hinged attachment on the front of the noseband for the lunge line to clip to. This means you don’t have to unclip and reattach the lunge line when changing the rein. When fitting a cavesson, remember that… A session on the lunge should be similar to a riding session, so start by allowing your horse to stretch down in walk and trot before working them in trot and canter. Top tip – If you want to fit a bridle over a cavesson, a sliphead (a bit attached to a headpiece) is ideal. If you don’t have a ready-made one, just remove the noseband, reins and browband from your flatwork bridle. This heavy horse lunge cavesson is designed to give your heavy horse a more subtle communication whilst you lunge without placing any pressure on the mouth.
