Barrage: 5-Player Expansion | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

Income: Receive bonuses on your player board (you also earn these same bonuses at the time you build the structures). (Water is also placed on the Headstream tiles according the number shown on each tile (not in round 5).) For the introductory game assign the Company boards and Executive Officer tiles to the players according to the table below. Place each Executive Officer tile on the left of the associated Company board. There are different types of actions, divided between the Company boards and different sections of the Management board.

It costs 3 Excavators if built in the Plains area, 4 Excavators if built in the Hills area and 5 Excavators if built in the Mountains area. You score VP according to the current round’s Bonus Scoring Tile. To qualify for a scoring tile, you must have generated at least 6 Energy in the round. Each scoring tile earns a player points according to the number of structures built so far less a penalty for not producing Energy equal to at least 6 x the Round Number. (For example, with a Round 4 Elevation Scoring Tile, you would earn 5 VP for every Elevation you built since the start of the game if you produced at least 4x6 or 24 Energy that round, less 4 VP if you only produced 18-23 Energy, less 8 VP if you only produced 12-17 Energy, etc. You earn 0 VP for the scoring tile if you produced 0-5 Energy that round.) The Bank is a single action space that works differently from the others: you can place here any number of Engineers with a single action. This is also the only non-exclusive action space. A player can always place Engineers in the Bank, even if the space is already occupied by their or other players' Engineers. Turbine Stations: Place 1-3 Engineers to produce Energy. You choose a Conduit (owned by any player) to direct some It costs 2 Concrete Mixers if built in the Plains area, 3 Concrete Mixers if built in the Hills area and 4 Concrete Mixers if built in the Mountains area.

Actions: Take turns placing workers and taking actions until all players have placed all 12 of their workers. from Dams to Powerhouses. Dams hold water equal to their Height (1, 2, or 3 water tokens). Flowing water that You can fulfill a Contract in your supply. A Contract can only be fulfilled if the amount of energy you produced in that single action is at least what is depicted on the Contract. Some actions have a cost indicated in the action symbol. This cost must be paid when the Engineer is placed together with any extra fee for spaces with a red outline. You must have all the required Credits to be able to place your Engineer in a given space. You can build 4 types of structures. Each structure has a different function and a different cost. The Base There’s another thing I really like about the game that’s somewhat subtle. Because of all the options provided, the intricacies of the game, and how interactive it is, you might think this is a very unforgiving and brutal title. Surprisingly, a) it really isn’t; and b) I like it that way. We’ve found that getting off to a slow start is by no means a death sentence, as the bulk of the points come later in the game. Early actions matter, of course, but there’s still plenty of time to adjust and make some killing plays later on. The other really appealing feature is that you always feel as if you’re accomplishing something—either building things, adding to your infrastructure, or generating energy—and rarely as if you’re just treading water. It gives the game a nicely positive feel that is sometimes missing in complex designs. After taking this action, the player adds the energy produced to her running total for the round. She also gets to fulfill one contract. Each contract shows a minimum energy requirement and a reward; the player can discard one of their contracts which has a requirement equal to or less than the energy produced by that action and claim the reward. Rewards can be VPs, useful items, or even other actions (like adding water drops to the board). Contracts provide the kind of cascading actions that co-designer Simone Luciani has used so successfully in many of his other games. Water Management: Place 1-2 Engineers to place 1-2 Water on any Headstream(s), to be released during the Water Phase, or place 1 Water on any Headstream, which is then immediately released downstream.
