The goal with the hair was to make a beautiful bun – and then to make it a mess. If you decide to be a practice ballerina as if you were in class you can wear warm up wear like leg and arm warmers have your hair more simple and have a simpler tutu. Homemade costumes are the best. Rarely did my mom buy our costumes and made us use our creativity to come up with something on our own. I now do the same with my kids. This is a fun idea and I love that it is homemade. You can use any type of flat ballet looking shoes, a pair of those ballet looking slippers, real ballet slippers as above you can use a pair of old toe shoes. Alternately, you can get creative with other outfits – like a zombie bride. How cool would it be to find an old wedding or prom dress at a thrift store and add the zombie touch? Start with small holes in appropriate places less is always more believe me! You can start with a small hole then dry the costume and it might fray. Also you can crease the material and cut jaggedly to make it look ripped.
