With the AH D7200, Denon brings a similar design from its previous model and expands on its depth. There are more inconsistencies with the sound signature, especially in the mids, but it shines with its extension and more immediate grasp on the sound. The highs are fantastic, I don’t find them too harsh or too bright. The level of clarity and detail offered by these cans are very high. They are very resolving with superb definition, very insightful. They are definitely not veiled or muddy sounding. I don’t find them fatiguing either. They are slightly darker than the D9200 but this can be very well tweaked with EQ. I have made a small adjustments shown on the screenshot and as the result they are better sounding / a bit brighter now. It might fix the issue witht trebble. I am going to experiment with different EQ setting a bit more. I would like to see some other EQ settings you are using guys.The B&W P9s may have an exuberant low-end, but they handle rhythm and dynamics with greater accuracy and control. They’ve got more punch. And they get across the true intent of a song more faithfully than the Denons. How about some jazz to cool down those drivers? I went with "Continuum" from Jaco Pastorius's The Essential Jaco Pastorius--which has, as one would expect, plenty of bass. Here the AH-D7200 performed really well ... astonishingly well, in fact. If you don't have this FLAC file, I highly recommend it. The whole album is wonderful, and I actually listened to all of it through the Denons. It sounded amazing. The pads aren’t just pleather - they are constructed with a memory foam base, then wrapped in a stitched leather that was constructed specifically for the AH-D7200. Instead, it features ‘zebrawood’ (which gets its name from its distinct striped form rather than any ligneous feature you didn’t know a zebra had). It’s supposedly very dense, good for reducing resonances. Tiefbass ist der Hammer. Der Tiefbass hat so richtig kraft und ist dabei sehr direkt und glaubhaft.

Un filino rigidi e poco ermetici. Suono, pulito con sensibile predominanza del midrange (i vocalists a volte posso essere stancanti). Il basso risulta neutro, ed a seconda dell’incisione, viene leggermente “coperto” dal centro banda. Ottimi i cembali. I think the yokes connected to the headband are a big improvement compared to the previous Denon cans, no more hinge screw issues. Grund für die Neuanschaffung war nicht, dass ich mit meinem DFT-880 nicht mehr zufrieden war. Der wurde von mir vor einem Jahr sogar noch auf den aktuellen Stand gebracht, denn das gute an Beyerdynamic-Kopfhörern ist es, dass man alle Teile auch nach Jahren noch tauschen kann. Der Grund lag an meiner Frau, weil die sich bei Musik nicht auf ein gutes Buch konzentrieren kann und die offenen KH nun mal auch Musik nach außen dringen lassen. There is headphone comfort, and then there is Denon headphone comfort. In my opinion, Denon headphones have always been in a league of their own in this regard. My old Denon D5000 headphones were always my benchmark for comfort, matched only by the Beyerdynamic DT1990 and the Sennheiser HD800. According this thread, the sound can be improved by some custom work / modding but me personally I would not go this way. On the other side, I would love to compare the original sound with the modded one. They are some good articles in this thread on how to do this. See first screenshot of the actual APO's EQ settings you can simply copy these / create them in your own EQ like this, you should get the same result. an einem Kopfhörerverstärker. Anywho... all indications are this is the same driver as in the D7200 which makes me wonder what will distinguish the two. There’s no 3.5mm adapter plug (which is a shame), but you can detach the lead and swap it for other Denon cables that do have in-line controls.With Denon keen to attach different housing materials to each model (which makes for an aesthetically pleasing line-up, for starters), it’s not surprising the AH-D5200 – the most affordable pair in the range – utilise neither walnut nor bamboo.
