Carb Killas are a protein bar designed by the company Grenade. They taste just like a chocolate bar, but instead contain much more protein (20g+) and have far less sugar (2g). As of writing this article there are 13 different flavours, ranging from white chocolate, caramel, chocolate fudge brownie and birthday cake! We will look at more flavours shortly. Do they work? The milk chocolate coating is, as expected, silky and sweet, whilst the nougat-y base is dark and rich, adding that hint of saltiness so beloved of an Oreo biscuit. What’s more, it manages to maintain Grenade’s usual, pretty solid macros – 21g protein, 20g carbs, 10g fat and just 1g of sugar, all for 233 kcal. Actual magic! Yes, Grenade Protein Shakes have gone through the Informed Sport testing process and are widely consumed by professional athletes and military personnel. ARE GRENADE PROTEIN SHAKES SUITABLE FOR VEGETARIANS? Even so, this is a great addition to the line and I still really enjoyed it. You could say it would have been improved by substituting the caramel layer for peanut butter, but what isn’t improved by adding a bit of peanut butter… Jaffa Quake 8/10

In terms of flavour, the white chocolate is more of a hint, but this is strawberry ice cream, so what did we expect? It’s a good bar, don’t get me wrong. I’m just not sure about the pairing of gingerbread with chocolate. I would never opt for chocolate gingerbread over regular gingerbread, but also can’t help thinking that white chocolate might have worked better here. Yet I think this bar could have been majorly improved if the chocolate flavour was more intense – maybe with a chocolate creme instead of the caramel layer – and the crunch was more pronounced. Inside, it’s the same classic triple-layer bar we’ve come to know and love from Grenade. The base is soft and slightly chewy – a nice chocolate flavour with a hint of mint. Created in partnership with Oreo, this bar combines real Oreo pieces with Grenade’s tried-and-tested protein bar base. All of this nutritional awesomeness would be totally worthless if the bars tasted awful. Well, spoiler alert - they don't. In fact, we thought they tasted pretty good.Chocolate orange. You’re either a fan or you can’t stand it. If you’re one of the latter, you’ll be pleased to know that Grenade haven’t gone overboard with the orange flavour here.

Once again Grenade have delivered another great bar and, to be honest, that’s all there is to say. Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel – 10/10 If you’ve missed Grenade’s chocolate offerings, or if you’re just on the hunt for something classic yet sophisticated, this is the bar for you. It’s fudgy and chocolate-y with the perfect hint of salt. Delicious. Strawberry Ice Cream (Limited Edition) – 7/10By now you’re going to know about Grenade’s classic triple-layer bars, so I’ll leave that bit out. But I will say that the centre on this bar seems softer than usual, more similar to that of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough I’ve reviewed before. When I opened the wrapper, there was a strong smell of banana. It was that artificial banana smell, but it wasn’t unpleasant. It’s a complete contrast to the likes of Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, but it’s a bit of FUN. Fudged Up – 7/10 With each bite of a Carb Killa bar you take, it becomes increasingly hard to believe that it isn’t a standard chocolate bar. Carb Killa bars are perfect for anyone of on a low carb diet, or those looking to build lean muscle with a low carb, high protein treat. Why choose the Carb Killa protein bar? Whereas the ‘older’ bars all seem to hover around 15-16g, the newer flavours have been consistently up at 18-20g, almost matching the 20-22g protein in each bar.

Hello I was buying this product for long time but from around 3 months Lidl Wood green decide to not this product on the store I am really disappointed about the management I ask the staff nobody cand ever answer what is the issue a own lild product to missing from the store Please note that several of our products are made in a facility which handles peanuts, nuts and other allergens therefore please consult the specific product allergy information. It’s higher in calories than previous bars at 242 per 60g bar, and I notice that Grenade have dropped the ‘impact carbs’ boast off the labelling. Not sure if that’s significant or just a design thing though. The base has a light, milky cocoa flavour – something Grenade hasn’t done in a while. It’s not an intense chocolate, but it shouldn’t be. The chocolate is rich, but it strikes just the right balance so as to not detract from the real star – the salted caramel. Although strong, the banana flavour isn’t overwhelming and mixes well with the chocolate and the hint of salt from the caramel.Photographs that show the fault as clearly as possible, the whole product and the Grenade logo / label The centre is soft, fudgey and slightly chewy, just like the previous two bars but this time with a nice chocolate flavour. The caramel layer adds a richness and a hint of salt which mixes well with the chocolate coating to create an overall flavour that reminds of, well, a fudge brownie!
