I am troubled that the author writes her words as if it was Jesus speaking. My fourteen and fifteen year old Sons were also given a book and before I voiced my opinion, they told me they didn't feel comfortable reading something as though it was Jesus' words when those words came from a human being.

I had not read the intro until now, but it is clearly there. And she says that is how she wrote Jesus Calling, that the messages were directly from Jesus, and she merely wrote them down. This is particularly problematic because not all of her "messages" are biblical. Thus, she is either lying about receiving these messages (I had always thought she just took some of her favorite verses and turned them into a devotional) or she is receiving the messages from someone other than Jesus. Let Me prepare you for the day that stretches out before you. I know exactly what this day will contain, whereas you have only vague ideas about it. You would like to see a map, showing all the twists and turns of your journey. You'd feel more prepared if you could somehow visualize what is on the road ahead. However, there is a better way to be prepared for whatever you will encounter today: Spend quality time with Me. I am with you and for you. When you decide on a course of action that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop you. You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your goal, but don't be discouraged-never give up! With My help, you can overcome any obstacle. Do not expect an easy path as you journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your very-present Helper, am omnipotent. The most important question to ask about this book is: Is this Jesus speaking, as Young claims it is? Aside from the troubling issues mentioned, a few more are worth considering. Theologically, Jesus “hovering” makes no sense. Jesus is in his resurrected body interceding for the saints. [26] As the Second Person of the trinity, Jesus is omniscient and knows us and what we are doing but He is not “hovering” like a mist or cloud.
