About this deal

Lola: Aww. Stay strong. You'll get through this. I know I've been there. But, I'm there anymore! Woo-Hoo! Driver's license!!!

Double Act won the prestigious Smarties Medal and the Children’s Book Award as well as being highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People’s Choice Award. The fabric was thin and ridiculously soft, and I found myself petting it like it was a damn dog. That was weird, I knew, so I stopped before I stepped out of the closet.” Such an amazing read to get me out of a slight reading slump I was in. Don’t get me wrong by that rating you might not think so, but I can assure you I very much liked the book. I thought the domestic violence storyline was simplified a bit too much and unnecessarily overtaken by the latter storyline.Now.” “Now?” I asked around his finger. “Now.” He confirmed. “Right here.” Damn. He wasn’t playing around. I pulled my lips off his finger. “Alright, let’s do it. But I do have one question first.” “What?” he growled. My lips lifted in a smirk. “So excited to answer,” I drawled. He took my face in his hands. “I want your thoughts in my mind and your soul in my chest again. I don’t want to wait.” When Lola gets to the "even if they have terrible hair?" part of her line "It's too hard for me to read, so I never do. Don't you think I wanna read about American princesses and unicorns and the Bossy Twins, even if they have terrible hair?," the closed-captions omit the word "have." This was interesting. When I read the synopsis I was like "mmm, abusive dad, got it. Wait... cancer too? That seems a little bit much." And that's what it was. Too much. The author's prologue suggests that the book is mostly about the cancer, but that's not the case at all. And while Wilson did the abusive dad stuff well, the cancer stuff was not as good. It seemed like an add on, sort of an excuse to get Auntie Barbara into the picture. I really enjoy Jacqueline Wilsons writing style, I find that she is an author that makes things easy to follow and understand. Putting myself in the shoes of a child reader, I feel like I would understand this book and not struggle to follow any aspects of it. As a child the themes weren't as obvious to me and were in fact very subtle, however as an adult their purpose and importance screamed out to me.

The Yates family are seen to be doing the contest for the pizza party, however, the Yates stated in " Future Tense" that they don't do dairy. However, some of the pizza may have not had cheese or had low-lactose cheese.Characters getting pulled over by the same police officer and their cars towed (Lola, Daffy, Porky, even Bugs). I have to congratulate the author Lola Jaye for writing this stunning story with such emotion and empathy making it a book I will keep in my heart always.... I’m not easily reduced to tears but oh boy this one nearly broke me and I will never forget it. Lola: A right? Pfft. Yose-mite, I just got a perfect score on my written test. I think I can do a little more than take a right. I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and William Morrow and Company and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Also, if you, like me, were wondering if Celestine/Dikembe was based off an actual historical figure, read the afterword. There's an author's note where Jaye talks about a photograph she saw that partially inspired her book and why she decided to set the book in the Congo in the beginning. Lccn 2011003477 Ocr_converted abbyy-to-hocr 1.1.20 Ocr_module_version 0.0.17 Old_pallet IA16218 Openlibrary_edition Lola: I can't go to jail! I'm too pretty! I won't last a day. No wait, I'll work out, I'll get really muscular. ( lowers voice) My voice will get really deep. I'll run the place. ( rolls down window) Hi, officer. Overall, this was just a really great thriller/historical fiction/lit-fic hybrid and I'm SO glad I randomly took a chance on it. I hope the author writes another book very, very soon! I remember reading it as a child and loving it, but as my reading tastes have matured I didn’t enjoy it quite as much this time around. I just want to break off here and state that I ADORE Auntie Barbara. I think she might be the best Auntie I've ever read.) Like Humans, Trees tell a Story. In 9 Months, they go from nakedness to half dressed, to fully flourishing bloom. Then they repeat the process all over again.”

We’re going to live happily ever after, Mum and Auntie Barbara and Kendall and me. Fingers crossed.” Despite having gone through so much with Lola leaving her dad and her mum having cancer, this quote shows that there is always hope and that you must always remain positive and have a positive outlook on life. There is no point in dwelling on your sorrows and making others around you suffer to be miserable, positivity is key and no matter what life throws at us we all need to remember nothing lasts forever. I will be honest in saying that I thought I might end up finding this book boring because at first it just felt like regular storytelling. When it started to get a mystery vibe and I started to infer the themes embedded in this book including what it means to win in life and reclaim one's identity, my attention was undoubtedly bought. Jaye even managed to chip in a really beautiful romance. Jayni mengubah namanya menjadi Lola Rose. The story focuses on Jayni, her mother and her brother as they try to escape her abusive father. The issue is handled with care by Wilson, but is (as always) realistic. There are many twists and turns throughout the story however one message is clear by the end: there is nothing more important than family. This is illustrated by the reunion of Jayni's mother and her aunt who Jayni hasn't seen since she was little. The book that Lori read, Rumor Has It, would later have its title repurposed as that of a Season 5 episode. Selama baca buku ini aku bawaannnya kayak si Lola Rose ini. Selalu kawatir, resah dan gak habis pikir dengan tabahnya Lola Rose menghadapi smua cobaan yg terjadi di keluarganya..dia baru 12 thn dan dituntut dewasa karna kondisi keluarganya gitu...
