This book does a brilliant job of describing how it might feel to be an autistic teenage girl. As a dad with an autistic 10 year old daughter, I found some parts made me feel quite emotional. The story reminded me of the stress and anxiety my daughter experienced trying to cope in a mainstream primary school, before she moved to a special needs school, as well as the stresses on our family.A novel told from the point of view of a teenage girl with autism, written by schoolgirls with autism, has been published after the students – frustrated by their experience of a world that rejects and ignores them – decided to take matters into their own hands. Does your child play pretend or make-believe? ( For Example, pretend to drink from an empty cup, pretend to talk on a phone, or pretend to feed a doll or stuffed animal?)

ask people who know you or your child well (like friends, family or teachers) if they have noticed any possible signs you could put on your list What an insightful read! Thanks Limpsfield Grange for sending M is for Autism into my world. Recommended to teenagers and parents. -- Alis Rowe, aka The Girl with the Curly Hair Welcome to M's world. It's tipsy-turvy, sweet and sour, and the beast of anxiety lurks outside classrooms ready to pounce. M just wants to be like other teenagers her age who always know what to say and what to do. ( For Example, if you point at a toy or an animal, does your child look at the toy or animal?) Answer 1 She’s right. Less of a struggle would be good. Life is a struggle when you’re trying to be normal."The Limpsfield girls certainly found their voice and it has all the urgency, immediacy and sheer vibrancy of teenage life... I hope that M's journey will help girls with autism making that same journey through their early teen years to find themselves and believe in themselves as well as help others understand and believe in them. -- Robert Pritchett, Director Autism Accreditation, The National Autistic Society The House of Lords round table has a quest, said Carpenter: “We need to engage political will, without which nothing will change. There needs to be a systematic review, either under the women and equalities committee or we need to set up a new, cross-governmental taskforce. Does your child get upset by everyday noises? ( For Example, does your child scream or cry to noise such as a vacuum cleaner or loud music?) Answer 12 Wel done all. We need more books like this to promote understanding that we are all different in our own way and that is ok as it makes for an interesting world. How awful would it be if we were all the same? Please answer questions to reflect your child's usual behaviors. If the behavior is rare (e.g., you've seen it only once or twice), answer as if the child has not acquired the behavior.
