About this deal

Clear ambiance-free communication The noise-cancelling microphone is designed for high-volume low-distance recording and is optimized to handle unpleasant pops and hisses—great for gaming Skype calls and video chatting The sound quality is very clear with some nice lows. In-game music and sounds are epic and your spotify etc will also sound very good for the price point. It's not super audiophile level good but most people will be able to tell right away that the sound quality is good. So this is a weird one. The HD58x is supposed to be a budget way to get an HD600 series headphone. It offers the same style of narrow 3 blob staging and has the same forward upper midrange that makes vocals pop. But from a technical performance, it is a fair bit behind the HD6xx. It's kinda an HD599 driver in an HD600 housing. Giving you HD599 performance but HD6xx presentation.

I remember you from one of the other threads I'm in... I forget, do you have the Senn HD560s or the Fidelio X2's/X2HR's? I could swear I remember you from one or both of those threads. Technical performance I want to start by saying for the price it hits average to above average at everything for its price. So keep that in mind while you read through the rest. I'll quote what I said of the GAME ONE's soundstage here. I've replaced GAME ONE with the PC38X below, though the statement is accurate to my beliefs, and applies to both. This doesn't mean it's bad in games by any means, just because the FR isn't perfect for FPS it still holds up better than most gaming headsets in that regard. Enjoy unique, immersive sound in one single device. A breathtaking cinematic experience – designed to give you goosebumps: Movie nights will never be the same again. Just plug in, set it up and enjoy a whole movie theater at home. The PC38X, is made of highly durable plastics that I feel will take moderate abuse without any major issues. There's really nothing bad that can be said of the build quality here. Wired is always better than wireless if you don't want to hear fuzzy sounds, another great thing is you don't need to charge these just plug them into the controller and away you go

Sennheiser HD560s, Philips Fidelio X2HR, Fiio FH3, Fiio FH1, KZ ZSN Pro, Fiio K5 Pro DAC/Amp, Hiby R3 DAP, Venture Electronics Monks, iFi iEMatch, HiFiMan Edition S (broken headband). Treble is detailed, sparkly (if just so), and incredibly well extended. Either than 7.5k hitting a bit softly, there's plenty of shimmer and sharpness throughout without overexertion. One of the best Sennheiser headphones I've heard in this regard. That makes me a casually competitive gamer, where I mainly chat nonsense with my friends, but every once in a while I'll need to relay information to them. So I need a headset's sound quality to be good enough to highlight details and have a great sense of spatial awareness, even with such a limited volume. Does the PC38X pull through? Does it set itself apart from the PC37X/GAME ONE? If you're longing for an improvement over the improvements those headsets claimed over the original PC360, then yes. Yes it does. I can hear everything on these every small detail. Footsteps in Call of Duty to every little sound in Resident Evil Village or Ghost of Tsushima I do find the mesh pad to be a tad more comfortable and more breathable, but the velour pad I think feels way better against your skin.

The build is your standard HD500 series headphone. All plastic, the plastic does feel slightly cheap but as time as shown with the HD500 series and the PC37x/Game One. They hold up fairly well. The only place I’d worry about is the Yolk which is a tad thin and may not survive being poorly taken care of. It isn't removable which I personally don't mind because this isn't something you're going to be wearing outside anyways. Thankfully the flip-up mute that is featured on all Sennheiser (now EPOS) gaming headsets is still here. The HD599 is almost out of date now. It really doesn't do anything better than the PC38x, aside from wider staging. But everything else is either the same or a step-down. The outer right cup houses the volume dial which I find slightly insensitive in terms of travel to volume change ratio. I find this to be a good thing, as minor volume adjustments can be made. Turning the volume all the way down doesn't completely mute the audio, yet goes low enough to allow for your attention to be diverted to the outside world. The volume dial also doesn't lose perfect channel balance at low volumes unlike other headsets with inline volume adjustments.
