Whichever size you choose, we highly recommend that the PeapodMat is placed slightly under the pillow. This could be because too much detergent was used in the wash. Just like regular towels that may stiffen over time, it is usually because too much detergent has been used and the top layer has built up a soapy residue. You can care for your PeapodMat the same way as you would with a towel. It's perfectly suitable to be washed at any temperature and either air or tumble dried. I tested the largest size and don't see a purpose for the two smaller options, aside from maybe running to the hospital in labor with the smallest one on my car seat.
