About this deal

It has worked faultlessly many times but they do have limitations, I never run continuously for long periods, which would be needed for inflating a large tyre from near flat. The robust metal body and anti-vibration feet make this a durable inflator, ideal for trade use. Has an analogue dial that shows pressure in PSI, kPA, bar and lb/cm2. Comes with valve adaptor set and storage case. They said it was not up to the job and if I used the RAC 900 on these tyres it would not be covered by the warranty. So what are the plus-points of the Ring RAC700 4×4 Air Compressor? Well, it’s designed for 4×4 car tyres as well as standard tyres. Unfortunately, the Screwfix master plug is as stated a 10A rated item, whereas the Ring RAC 900 the OP has is rated at 30 Amps, massively higher.

With the RING Automotive Air Compressor RAC900 the hose is attached by screwing the brass Schrader valve attachment onto the valve until it seals against a sealing ring. The valve attachment has a push and turn mechanism to allow the tyre to be deflated when the pressure is too high while the compressor is still attached to the wheel valve. The compressor comes with an instruction label attached to the pipe but it may rip off easily. Night time use with the RAC830 is safer and easier thanks to the LED light. Includes three adaptors for inflating sports balls and other small inflatables. Comes with a storage case. POWERFUL INFLATION: inflates a 13” tyre from flat to 35psi in 90 seconds. Powered directly from a 12V battery to give the fastest possible inflation. The power consumption of the RAC900 is 280 Watts. That’s equivalent to 5 car headlamp bulbs of 55 Watts each. This is much more than a cigar lighter which is often 180Watts. And it’s continuous throughout the time you’re pumping the tyre.Inflating a motorhome tyre with a portable 12 volt compressor is likely to burn out the motor before the tyre is up to pressure. And it will take an eternity.

This has always been a problem for me, as I cannot find a local garage/supermarket where I can blow up the tyres. I keep the tyres at 67psi, but most garage machines have a top limit lower than this. I have had a Bosch rechargeable gun type compressor, but the battery gave up the ghost and the unit had been discontinued anyway. Then I bought the Ring RAC630 12v compressor as recommended by a survey in one of the Club magazines, but this has failed after only a couple of uses. All of the parts can be kept in this nice bespoke bag with two compartments, a large one for the compressor and smaller one for the pipes and Inflation Adapters: Two Compartment Bag Closed Two Compartment Bag Open Details Of The Inflation Adapters Supplied The average car battery may have a capacity, when new, of 50 Ampere Hours, i.e. if you connected a device that would draw 25 amps (and the RAC900 draws 23 amps) the battery would be drained in 2 hours.I connected the pump and switched on.. the gauge pressure shot up.. but no air was going into the tyre.. Puzzled, I had a look and found that there was no pin in the inflator connector to open the tyre valve.. so air could never go in..

The Ring RAC700 4×4 Air Compressor weighs a hefty 2.091kg and measures 175mm high, 200mm wide and 130mm deep. Just came across this entry - been away in van -. I have had 2 compressors in the past and finally they gave up the ghost. I went to Halfords to buy another nbut the assistant told me that although it wouldf take my tyres up to 80psi I would have to deflate them to about 40psi to take the start up pressure off the compressor as there was a risk of burning it out if this wasn't done. But while the speed is great, niceties such as a digital gauge, an auto-stop function and lights, are conspicuous by their absence. On the plus side, you get a 7m-long coiled hose between the compressor and the screw-on tyre-valve coupling, and the compressor itself can be up to 2.4 metres from the battery, thanks to long power leads that clamp directly to the battery’s terminals.

The mini test pitched the Ring RAC900 Air Compressor against a newly released product, and assessed both on inflation rate, hose and lead length, as well as the accessories that come with each. The Ring RAC900 performed well across the board, being named “a great little machine”. During inflation, “Ring has the edge”, adding 3PSI more per minute to the tyre compared to the competition. The analogue gauge was “more accurate”, the air release valve was noted, as was the fact that “everything goes together via quality brass fittings”. The RAC830 Caravan and Motorhome Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator is ideal for campervans, motorhomes, 4X4s, SUVs, caravans, minibuses and vans. It's about 2ft long and takes up more space than a compressor but really easy to use IMO no leads to move around. also use it on the bikes !As I’ve said here in the past, I have a T-Max pump that’s conceptually similar to the RAC900. When used at home I power it from a ‘slave’ 12V battery (because this is convenient and I have a couple of spare batteries) and I store the pump in a handy niche under my motorhome’s bed. If I had to use the pump away from home I’d either power it from the jump-start points or from the leisure battery . Good features included long air hoses and power leads, which make positioning the compressor much easier – cordless devices were even better. We also noticed that some higher power models attach directly to a battery’s terminals, which is an advantage when you are either inflating or deflating a tourer’s tyres because of the close proximity of the leisure battery. While on the aire at Gravelines, a motorcyclist came over from the road and asked if I could help with a tyre inflator.. his rear tyre was soft.. I've no interest in further cluttering up my garage with the type of compressor you bought, but I do value the versatility of a powerful 12V tyre-pump that takes up little storage space and can travel with me in my motorhome. If people are looking for a pump most suitable for inflating motorhome tyres at any time or place, then I don't think there's anything better on the market than the RAC-900. If they just want a mains-powered pump, then they can do as you did, but they won't be able to travel with it.
