In Sonic and the Secret Rings, this never happens (not even in an implicit manner), with Shahryar merely finding Sonic insolent. It is never actually explained what method Sonic uses to return to his home world after defeating the evil in either of the storybook games. It is stated that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games did not feature Dream Events. In reality, the game did feature Dream Events, although they were not set in either the Sonic or Super Mario universes.
