Space Marine Adventures is a fantastic way to get younger players started on their own forays into the 41st Millennium. The game contains 10 push-fit Citadel miniatures and easy-to-learn rules to ensure that even novice players will be up and running within minutes. With games taking only 30-45 minutes to play, you can squeeze one in while you’re waiting for that Nuln Oil to dry. Yes, occasionally you will get an enemy spawn tunnel way off in a corner presenting a bit of annoyance as you’re required to seal those in addition to silencing the bomb. But as long as you manage your three actions per Space Marine with minimal care and don’t leave yourself positioned poorly at the end of your turn, there’s simply nothing to worry about. After setting up your random map of hex tiles you’ll start with all your marines on the starting tile and the cultists distributed to the tunnels and open corridors.

This is a cooperative game, just like the previous two Space Marine Adventures titles, where you field a group of three macho power armored psychos fighting for the Imperium. In this one you’re shooting your way through a hive world and cutting apart loathsome cultists while shouting lewd taunts. Well, that’s at least how I ran it by my lonesome.At its core, Space Marine Adventures is a simple and accessible introduction to this style of action-adventure game where you get to play with awesome toys, err, miniatures but its shelf life may be limited by the narrow scope of the game. However, it’s also a great way to introduce gamers to the hobby portion of tabletop gaming with miniature assembly and painting if they want to take the plunge. This lite game allows players to pit five of their models against five enemy models. It is a free print and play game available from Games Workshop, though you'll need to provide your own models (theoretically from the Space Marine Heroes range of miniatures).
