In celebration of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, Diageo and HBO have released a series of limited-edition single malt whiskies, each paired with one of the iconic Houses of Westeros. House Greyjoy rules the Iron Islands and worships the Drowned God. Talisker was a natural fit for House Greyjoy as this single malt is distilled in one of the most remote and rugged areas of Scotland, the Isle of Skye. The layered flavors and the maritime character of the Talisker Select Reserve are the result of its wave-battered shores and the maturation in heavily charred and refill casks.

The ninth and final bottling in the Game of Thrones Limited Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection, the Six Kingdoms Mortlach pays tribute to one of the show’s most powerful characters and the fate of Westeros, whose long-held Seven Kingdoms ultimately became six at the conclusion of the show’s climatic battle for the Iron Throne. White Walker is also chill-filtered and said to be best served cold. Chill filtered means that the whisky was set to a very low temperature, in this case 1.5* Celsius, and passed through filters. When whisky get very cold it has a tendency to become cloudy due to particles clumping together. Chill filtering ensures that when a whisky spends time in a freezer, it won’t come out hazy. Bottle Taste: Brown sugar, toasted oak, caramel, apple. Light notes of spice round it out.
