About this deal

There are only 2 different sets available in this brand of oil-based colored pencils. They are 72 and 96. I was unable to find any information on the lightfastness but that does not mean they are not. Since this is a very large set, it comes with a lot of similar colors to cover your bases if you do lose a pencil. These are perfect for kids because they often break or lose colored pencils. For example, Faber Castell Polychromos has a firmer pencil core that is wax and oil with the oil being more dominant. This oil pencil is best for details that are finer in nature such as hair and fur. Oil-based pencils can hold a sharper point for a longer period of time. They’re great for finer details and break less often. You also don’t have to deal with wax blooms when you lay down a lot of colors.

In the second example, I drew a green capsicum with the 76 set of the lightfast range of wax-based Caran d’Ache Luminance coloured pencils. (This range was expanded to 100 with an additional 24 colours in 2020. To see the whole range of 100 here.) The set comes in a sturdy, metal tin with 6 plastic trays to keep your pencils organized and protected.

Tested under the harshest conditions

When not done properly, an attempt to blend colored pencils will look as such – an attempt, not a clean execution. To make the pencils long-lasting, the leads are SV bonded, so the pencils last for longer than many other colored pencils. These pencils produce vibrant colors that are perfect for adding depth and detail to your drawings. If you're looking for a high-quality, professional, starter set of oil-based colored pencils, look no further than Raam Refined.
