I have an older version of this plug in my home and there isn't much difference between the versions, other than that setup was a lot easier for this one and my home WiFi had an easier time finding it. It's going to be difficult to get this crammed into a tight corner but it otherwise does the job as far as the design goes. Note that it only works with 2.4GHz frequencies broadcast by your router – presumably as they operate at longer ranges than 5GHz – so make sure your router can do both before buying (most can). It's well worth considering this smart power strip from TP-Link if you have a number of devices you're looking to use with a smart plug. It represents much better value for money than buying three individual smart plugs and, in our opinion, the Kasa app is the easiest and most comprehensive to use. If you do own TCP lights or cameras or whatever, then obviously it makes more sense to get a TCP plug too. This means its feature set can now rival any smart plug on the market, plus it’s well priced, widely available and made by a reliable brand. It also allows you to set up schedules for turning power on and off. These can also be countdown timers and – most usefully for lights – schedules based on sunset and sunrise which you can customise to your heart’s content.
