Here’s an easy way to better understand different tire sizes and how it relates to the ISO. This is just an overview – there are many other sizes out there, but these are the most common. You would expect that a tire listed as “29×2.5” would be a good replacement for a tire that said it was “29 x 2 ½”. Weirdly though these two are unlikely to be the same size of tire. These are often referred to as standard valves. The other two types of valve stems are Woods/Dunlop and Presta. Woods/Dunlop valve stems are incredibly rare and typically only found on bikes in the Netherlands or Asia.
