About this deal

The Donner DEP-20 uses the AWM sampling method that originally came from Yamaha. This method involves using very high-definition stereo samples of real instruments recorded with natural decay. This means that the samples take up much more memory but contain more sonic information, which is the reason for the top-quality tones.

One area where I was let down by both pianos was the key texture. However, since they are both entry-level digital pianos, it’s kind of understandable. The keys on both these pianos have very glossy keys made out of plastic. Now, plastic keys are completely fine, as even some of the more expensive models on the market use plastic keys. Another similarity between the two is their connectivity options and polyphony. Both of the pianos support MIDI connectivity, which opens a whole range of different possibilities. And with 128-note maximum polyphony, you can easily play wide and dense chords with a lot of notes without worrying about a dip in sound quality. However, the Donner DEP-20 completely blows the competition out of the park with more than 200 voices! Now, to be realistic, you won’t be using all of these voices, because some of them are very similar or not that good to begin with. With that said, this still leaves you a lot of useful, varied, and top-quality voices that fit many different styles of music. And to be honest, I found that the tones of the Yamaha P-45 sound better than the DEP-20 despite using the same tone engine. This may be because the piano was made by Yamaha, the better sound system, or my own personal taste. With that said, there are a bunch of pianists out there who agree with me on this, which is a clear testament to the quality and consistency of Yamaha pianos. In my opinion, neither of these pianos has the best tone amongst digital pianos. However, that’s about expected from a budget-friendly option, anyway. With that said, the Donner DEP-20 offers a wide set of different voices and a surprisingly accurate tone for its price. For these reasons, I declared it the winner in terms of tone as well.

Yes, this piano has fully weighted keys. And it has simulated piano feeling and abundant functions.

Customer reviews

Its advanced memory sampling technology offers it 238 tones, with a variety of piano sounds, electric pianos, guitars, saxophones, organs, and other ethnic instruments. With the DEP-20, you get 238 different sounds. But in my opinion, that’s not the most important thing. Actually it depends on your particular needs. Are you a beginner, looking for a digital piano to practice playing the piano on? Then you could have a million sounds, without adding too much to the perceived value. But if you want to have a little fun with you digital piano, and maybe experiment around a bit, then you will love the extensive variety.

You actually have 238 different tones to choose from like ukulele, drum, bass, and many others. All these tones are a nice addition to the feature offer of the DEP-20. You can imagine that only your skill level and creativity are the limit to what music you can play. The Donner DEP-20 has adjustable touch sensitivity. This allows you to tailor the piano and keys to your playing style, which is great for just about any pianist out there. This is also a great way to compensate for the fairly heavy keys, as you can simply set the sensitivity to light for an easier time.

TONES & 128 POLYPHONY】The 88-key weighted keyboard loaded with 238 types of tone like Ukulele, drum, bass, etc. vividly presenting voices of different instruments, arousing your keen to learn music. The digital electric piano with 128-note max polyphony, players could distinguish tone clearly in Chorus & Reverb under various occasions. With all that said, the 238 different voices do provide a lot of versatility and allow pianists to truly find a voice and sound that fits their style. Piano Features
